Machinery trader has some listed that are several years newer, but with a few more hours, at $17K - $21K.

Where are you going to list it for sale? I always start at the max then see what the market says…I use Craigslist exclusively and have to deal with spammers and lowballers. So far, I have gotten fair prices for all my equipment…it’s mostly a waiting/weeding out game. Replies to your ad will help you know what a good buyer will offer. Compare with like machinery and set your own goal for selling. Then wait.

I used CraigsList to sell a boat and crazily UNDER-priced it. I got so many “cash customer” calls within hours that I was ready to throw my phone away.

If for any reason you find yourself in that situation, close the ad and tell callers it’s OFF the market.

(I sold it the next morning to the luckiest new boat owner in Texas. He called the next day absolutely thrilled despite the fact that he’d immediately blown the alternator by connecing a new battery backwards.)

Are you looking at BX23 or BX23S? I believe there may be a typo in OPs post, the bx23 was made in 2004-2005 (according to tractordata.com).
Definitely.

BX23 is the older model that would fall into 2004-2006 range. The 210 loader is what mine had as well. It's not a BX23S. So, yeah typo in the year.

I believe I paid $16K for one brand new in 2006.

considering the crazy 'economy' we have, anywhere between 80 to 130% of what a new one's worth IF any are in stock .

I thought the BX23S came out around 2017, that model number went with the BXxx80 series. Prior to the 80 series I thought the numbering was BX25D? Tractor Data is unclear, they claim the 70 series finished in 2014 and the 80 series started in 2017. Presumably you couldn't buy a BX in 2015 or 2016. :)

Looking at the photos it's clearly a BX23, especially because the LA210 loader was on the BX22 and BX23, but not newer machines I think. The BX24 had an LA240.

I presume the OP has the age wrong, rather than the model wrong. The BX23 was before the BX24, which was replaced by the BX25, which was replaced by the BX25D, which was replaced by the BX23S. The machine is more like 2004 than 2014.

Better to put a higher asking price ,than a low one.

When I sold mine almost 3 years ago, the prices were depressed. Then machines started getting scarce, so the prices for both new and used started to rise, and about 6 months ago, our (US) economy started slipping into recession, and today mortgage rates are approaching 7% and housing sales are dropping like a stone. It completely switched from a seller's market to a buyer's market and lowering of sale prices. Machinery Trader has dealers that are just throwing out high prices hoping to catch a customer that hasn't done his/her due diligence. Start with a price that you think it is worth and leave yourself some negotiating room. Have your bottom dollar price in mind and if it turns out that the market believes that it is too high, then you will have to rethink your price. I was looking for a used car and one dealer had a 2017 model that was what I wanted with 40K on the odometer for $44,000. Another dealer had the same car model only it was 2 years newer (2019) with half the miles on the odometer (20,000) for $40,000. Want to guess which one I bought?

I did make a mistake, it’s a 2004 bx23, I got all the other details correct lol. So where does that leave me on price?

$12,000 - $13,500 Two and one-half years ago I sold my 2004 BX23 with the snowblower and hitch, sweeper, and Curtis soft cab for $13,500. I probably could have gotten a little more for it, but the snowblower was mediocre, and I never got any good use out of the sweeper. It is a poor design and they might have improved it since, but mine tended to jump up and down too much and didn't sweep well.
