I would like to bypass my tractor's seat safety function with a separate on/off switch. I don't want to have it permanently disabled. Tractor is a 2023 Kubota L4060 ROPS model. I've attached a photo of the wiring. You can see where the safety engage button is located and where I would install a switch on the blank plate. My question is where do I tap into the wires, just after the button, or on the other side of the gray connector in the line? Also, I guess I have one other question...is this the only safety function, or is there another "switch" located inside the seat? Thanks.

You would have to give me the actual model your working on, as there are several L4060 ROPS units.

I will only tell you if there are mutiple safety switches which there probably is.
I will not tell you how to bypass it.

And FYI your dealing with a computer controlled tractor, get shorting out wires wrong and your very very likely to fry the ECU

Why do you want to bypass the safety switch?

My Personal / Business opinion, I think bypassing safety switches is a BAD idea.

I hate to state the obvious, but since its a mechanical switch, It won't be that hard to figure out how to depress the button.

Maybe because he's extremely derogatory. Been on forum two years, ten post and doesn't appreciate good information that doesn't suit him. Doesn't understand there is some information that others will not express on an open forum, but may be available by other means if really interested.

Hey, I have a switch that bypasses all the safety switches and I would have voted for Kamala in a heartbeat if I lived south of the 49th.
I just ordered a switch to do the same. If I lean to the left while hooking up a front implement all sorts of regulations kick in. :ROFLMAO:

It is annoying. When I'm mowing and lean over to grab something the "safety" shuts down the machine. If I'm hooking something up and need to move the tractor 1/2" I've got to go from the hydraulic lever side to the left side (where not much useful happens), get on sit down, take things backwards, ... lots of work to do almost nothing.

So I ordered a red switch. (Somehow in this case it does not mean Communist, as if someone in the media purposely misrepresented the colors.) Waterproof, illuminated when on, flat-faced so it can't be pushed accidentally, etc. It's going in the dash where it's plainly visible (and kind of annoying when on), so if that's not "safe" I don't know what is. (y)

(While I did order a very specific switch, the above post is meant in fun.)

Link to switch? I’ll be expecting a write up, with pictures also. I have the same problem when my forks are on. Gotta stand a bit, flashing lights and sirens start wailing, pain in the butt.

I do believe that there is a previous thread around here somewhere where this exact behavior is discussed.😎

Being rude seems to be a common things these days, unfortunately.

Judicious use of the ban hammer Wolfman.

Yep!

Also, when the guilt feelings overcome you, remember that the "Powers that be" have no issue with you running the tractor with the seat belt on, and the ROPS folded down.

If you have a open station tractor, this seems to go against accepted safety guidelines...and not recommended if you decide to roll the tractor on a side slope.

Hummmm...And...where are the side slope tilt switches that shut the tractor down if a given angle is exceeded? Really needed to protect us from ourselves...

as for 'how=to=bypass', 1st get the correct wiring diagram for your exact model tractor.
I can't tell from the picture if that 'seat switch' is SPST-NO, SPST-NC DPDT-NO_NO or SPDT. What type it is does make a HUGE difference as to HOW you can bypass it.
Since some need to bypass switches, manufacturers have gotten clever using something other than a simple SPST switch(2 wires). In the early years ADT used SPDT switches for their alarm systems, making them impossible to defeat when connected to a control panel with window comparator inputs.
Why some won't tell you how to bypass ? , is for legal reasons. If 'A' tells 'B' ,do 'this' and 'B' gets maimed, 'B' could sue 'A'.......

That "safety" switch is the one thing I really don't like about my new tractor. Maybe there is something wrong with it? But I'm a small guy and I live on the side of a mountain. If I add a ratchet to my seat belt and strangle myself to the back of the seat it MAY not shut off the machine. Otherwise, just going down my hilly road and sliding forward even a little on my seat will kill the machine. Super annoying. Uphill, no problem.

Is there a way to adjust them so they are not so sensitive?
