I stopped by the local Kubota dealer on Thursday and they have an M6-131 on the lot. This is certainly a fantasy tractor for me. It's a beast and makes my M6060 look like a toy. I really like tractors, even just to look at, and this M6 is incredible. You know you have a real tractor when you have to climb up four steps to the get into the cab! 😂

I wish that Kubota sold a poster that shows all of their tractors to scale. I would buy a couple if it were available.

I like it although it's a bit too large for my needs😆 I usually take a spin around the candy store on weekends. Made the mistake of sitting in a Grand L. I can see trading the LX in on one at some point in the future.

Those L60 tractors sure are nice but there's nothing under 100hp that would tempt me to part with what I have. A jump into an M5-111 or bigger would require a significant change in location, situation or needs.

There's little risk these days of my doing something reckless at "the candy store". 😂

Wow, now that's a tractor right there. Such a beauty. Thanks for stopping by and taking pics for us LOL.

The M5 (90hp i think?) is the biggest I've ever seen around us.

What's that, about a quick $100k for that setup with loader?

Do it! LOL

Gonna sound odd. My only actual reason I didn't get a cabbed standard L was there wasn't a chance on me and the wife riding together. She wanted to be able to cut with me on occasion.

Made a stool that fits in the corner to the left of me, clears the pedals and has enough room to keep her legs to the side.

Waiting outside the garage door. Not poisonous, just a common red-sided garter snake about 30 inches and 1 inch diameter. Still prefer bears over these things.

It will happen eventually. I'd probably either go with a 4760 or 6060 for the 1055 loader and heavier front axle. I like the LX but I could use the Grand L's extra width and loader for unloading trucks.

Heartland Kubota in Sheridan, WY has the M6-141 listed at $129,000 so I would expect the M6-131 to be closer to $120,000 than $100,000.

Talking of Heartland Kubota, I bought the M6060 from that dealership in Sheridan, WY a little over three years ago. I spent a few days at a cabin owned by one of the owners of the dealership when I picked up the tractor and hauled it 600+ miles home.

I got back from a 3,500 mile roadtrip last week and once again stayed at the cabin on the way back and here's the view a week ago. The last photo was taken early Tuesday morning as I was heading out. I took that photo since I took a similar one of the M6060 and in about the same spot.

Its been a crazy week, bunch of a/c work in general right now plus I had 3 evaportors this week. One ended up coming from a nissan dealer in jackson. A 2019 Maxima that "declined service", all the customer said, no details. We said yes sir! Big job, paid well.
19maxima.jpg

19max.jpg

19nissan.jpg

Then I'll skip the 2nd one and hit the third. Its a little easier, but way nastier, with a bit of a twist followed behind.

Starts out with a customer states "Y'all JUST replaced my WHOLE a/c system and now it wont even blow out the vents." Boss's ole lady said he was pissed. I dont blame the guy. It's hot as hell today and it aint even kicked in good yet. No biggie, this is why we have warranties.

But the truck was last in March '22. And the notes on the ticket say the high side pressure was 450psi+ because the condenser and radiator were slam packed full of grass seed. A/C couldn't cool sittin still.

We blasted all the crap out of the condenser and radiator sent it down the road. Only parts used were water and air LOL.

Bring it in, she aint cooling. It's .5lbs low. Also got no mode functions (stuck on defrost, like mechanically stuck, not defaulted to defrost stuck like on vacuum actuated systems) as well as a partially moving blend door.

Before I could even think of pulling the dash we (and by we i mean our 3 week old 16 year old summer helper) had to remove what ended up being 4 rotella boxes full of crap. soon as I roll the hvac case back in my hands, I hear the sound of things tumbling around inside the case.
14f250.jpg

And unlike the maxima, this dude is modular. They're almost getting too heavy for me and the boss to hike out like this. Few more years and i'll probably be atleast removing the column to lighten the load.
14modular.jpg

Split the case, find what I believed to be a pile of corn nuts jamming the mode door along with some ammo stopping the blend door from swinging to full cold.
14evapleak.jpg

Leak is middleish up far left side. small spot.

Guy comes to pick up just before closing today (1- 2ish on Fridays) Boss brings the guy out to show him the leak in his evaporator plus what I got out of his case, and to advise him not to stack so much stuff on the dash. Guy looks at the boss and tells him, "theres no way you're gonna tell me that messed up my a/c". I just shook my head.

I did end up showing him the one that I did Wednesday. Which was on one of our regular farm hand's truck. It was so bad, as soon as I opened the door I could smell pag oil. This will be the 3rd motorcraft evaporator in 5 or 6 years i think on this truck.

13f250.jpg

Exact same setup, only a center console truck so the front seats gotta come out. This also has to happen on majority of the f150s of this era when the RCM is mounted under the center of the front seats. Gotta access one dang connector. Or you can violently shove them back, either way.

A dash a day keeps the back pain away. Actually it doesn't. My lower back is locked up tighter than dick's hatband LOL.

Another HOT busy week at the shop. 3 more evaporators. And already got 3 more lined up for next week. Mississippi heat aint playin this year.

First one was on what they generally around here refer to as a "baby bentley". Modular setup. But this ole jewel is an 05. Shes crusty. Had to pull the seats so I didn't destroy that fine pleather these come with.

Next up was our local handyman's cat eye (as the kids say) chevrolet. This 404k mile workhorse is sportin a brand new jasper 6.0 and 4l80 I put in last october to the tune of around $10k. A/C went out last week and he's like I've come too far to turn back LOL

Then closing out yesterday with suprise suprise.....another maxima....from the same dealer again. This is getting odd. Also the number of shops they would pass to get to us is concerning. Either way i'll take it.

Not modular, and actually by far way more labor intensive than all the other setups. I have to actually think instead of engaging my tech autopilot LOL. Luckily shes fresh on my mind from the one last week.

I meant to show last week just how "piecey" theses actually are. Its controlled chaos but stuff is absolutely everywhere. (other than the trunk, i have plastic laid down in between all the crap on the roof)

I'm tired today and hopefully the workload is light for our short little half day. It got a little crazier than we anticipated this week.

Yesterday, boss mentioned we might better head down to Gautier and get the Grady out to recharge our batteries. I'm like,"fishing and delicious seafood, YES PLEASE!"

Geez - - so much work.

My son and I were comparing notes as A/C's aren't working in either of our vehicles. For many years, I didn't have A/C in a vehicle. When I did, I'd still drive with the windows down....

With a forecast of 94 Monday - -- I might re-think it.....

My son is grown on out of the house - - he can choose as he wishes..... ;)

I don't envy the work you have to do or the conditions in which you have to do it.

The last automotive job I did was new cross-drilled/slotted rotors, pads and calipers all round on my F-250 followed by bleeding the brake lines multiple times. The end result was the best brakes that the truck has ever had since I bought it from a friend in 2018. But even with the noticeable improvement, it was still a chore. I used to enjoy working on cars and trucks but not so much these days. Perhaps it's a cyclical thing and what's old now will be new again. We'll see.

Phiddipus audax, commonly known as the Bold Jumping spider, is frequently seen throughout Illinois and is considered harmless to humans. Harmless is generally true unless Ms Jumpy decides to jump on your shoulder while you are shaving
😂

These are very sociable and beneficial little spiders and I transferred her to the window where she can enjoy a successful hunt while I leave to take care of errands. Captured with Canon 5DS R and EF 100 f2.8 macro lens. No humans or spiders were harmed during this event 😀

Last weekend finally made a road trip to see a very dear friend in Missouri.

Him and his wife live on 30 acres in northeast Mo about 30 miles west of Quincy. Great road trip and his place is fantastic. One of the things I miss at my house is the sunsets as I have a mature stand of red pine and woods surrounding me.

I was treated to a great one Saturday sitting on his back porch.

Beautiful capture Ken!

Several years ago I realized how fortunate I am to have beautiful sunsets across the central IL plains when several of my colleagues were out from the city 30 miles away and were astounded by the sunset. Prior to that it was just another normal evening to me.
