Sunrises are pretty damn good as well.

I spent many a summer at my Grandfathers/fathers lake cottage in Forest County Wi. The lake is named Metonga and the picture window faced just about due east and saw many a beautiful sunrises . Thanks for bringing me back to those memories, yes sunsets and sunrises both are special sights to see.

Geez - - so much work.

My son and I were comparing notes as A/C's aren't working in either of our vehicles. For many years, I didn't have A/C in a vehicle. When I did, I'd still drive with the windows down....

With a forecast of 94 Monday - -- I might re-think it.....

My son is grown on out of the house - - he can choose as he wishes..... ;)
These days, if it aint got a/c, I aint driving it LOL.

My elco never had a/c growin up and I was fine. These days I've grown weak.

We had some fairly humid summers in Jersey, bet y'all get some of that up there to.

I used to enjoy working on cars and trucks but not so much these days.
I'll second that.

The large labor intensive jobs are the only ones that give me purpose anymore. Otherwise, I'm ready for a garage and lift at the house where I can just service and maintain my own fleet of junk. Help family, friends, whatever.

I'm ready for round two. Whatever that may be. I've had my head down doing the same thing now for 25 years. Wouldn't even know whats out there.

Had an awesome time on the coast this weekend. Got in to Gautier around 5. It took longer than expected, had to pull the boss's airstream down to see if anyone wants it more than him. Thing is HEAVY!. But got the boat all ready to head out first thing sat morning.

Coming out of Mary walker marina towards the pascagoula bridge. Sat morning it was like a lake.

You come out right at the shrimp boat, tug, & building yards. Pretty cool to see.

It is right at the closing of red snapper season this week. And of course didn't catch a damn thing LOL. The boss got one bite, a very small snapper, that was it.

We were last here in October. It wasn't snapper season so naturally, thats all we caught. Drop to the bottom, soon as it hits bounce it a time or two and WHAM... You're gettin bit. We weren't fishing then, we were CATCHING!!!.

But it was a good time with the boys. We were around 30 miles out. Ended up putting 78 miles on her and burning about 66 gallons. OUCH!.

Going to close out a crazy week at the shop early today. My pops flew in last night plus I'm about an hour away from having 6 families from our homeschoolin group out pickin berries. Got to get home quick today.

We had one of three of our a/c machines (2 134a's and 1 1234yf) go down this week. Really slowed us down. And of course like last week and the week before, I had 3 large evaporator jobs again. That's 9 evaporators in 3 weeks. Plus several other random a/c jobs, on top of all your "can y'all check my air REAL QUICK" that'll pop in throughout the day.

Also exploded a ball joint out of a separate Ram 3500 we had in ( I actually had 2 2wd 3500 6sp crew cab rams in this week, very odd) of which I've only done three other times. On a sealed ball joint without a zerk fitting, the ball joint can most definitely explode from the housing when heating up for easier removal. BE CAREFUL or take 2 seconds and drill a hole in the top.....I prefer explosions though.

I am always very aware of this. So when I have a stubborn one that won't push out and I gotta bring in the heat, I keep my feet wide and away from the danger area LOL

And for those of you who ever remember how dreadful it could be putting plugs in the ole 4.3s in the early gm safari and astro vans, This is the trick. LOL
astro.jpg

Time to close her out and head on home for a little grass cuttin then on to some drinkin and cookin with pops. Got the ultimate chef in the house this weekend, taught me everything I know.

Last year he popped in on us, wasn't even there 10 mins and started making biscotti LOL.

Since we have an A/C doctor in the house, I would like to pick your brain on replacing an obsolete evaporator on an old 1979 Chevy G20 van. I need to find someone that can weld a pipe on a new one or come up with a solution. Of course I am off topic and we can take to messaging if you might be able to help.

Hmmmm. That could be interesting. 79 g20. 5.7? Does she have a front and rear evaporator?

Let me get back to the shop monday and look over some things for you. Might could come up with something.

Is this a "the napa down the road said it can't be had" kind of thing or you've already searched around quite a bit?

Would love to help anyway I can but as far as drivability, diagnostics, general repair etc I'm mainly a 90s up kind of tech.

Its definitely that time of year. A/C work is boomin.

What kind of truck you got?

Yes, front and rear. I need the front and have searched everywhere, some say they have it but it doesn’t fit.. I did find NOS on Germany eBay but someone beat me to it.

What parts houses want to sell:

What I need, note the pipe to the accumulator.

Ouch, I hate that for ya brother.

Had one in last week. Compressor alone (4 seasons not motorcraft) our cost was $415. Dang thing lists out for over $600. Luckily the labor was low, 1.5ish plus an evac and recharge. Customer was still hurtin at the end of the day though.

The kicker being as long as she didn't crap out internally and contaminate the system.

Man that engine bay looks alot newer than 79. Blower motor resistor looks newerish to me to.

But I see the obvious difference in the upper line where she goes into the drier/accumulator.

Is the lower line ran similar to these pictured?

I got none of my login credentials to look at stuff here at home so I'll definitely check for you monday when I get in. But definitely 79 and definitely a 350?

Just confirm for me 4 seasons part # 54538 is definitely NOT what you need and potentially what you already may have.

Still some warranty left so Ford will be eating it. If I could of gotten a aftermarket unit I would of just put it on instead of no ac for two weeks. I spend a lot of time on the road.

Cleaning up a tree fall Nearly took out the Jeep Liberty and the house deck.
20250625_175808.jpg

Been doing chainsaw work, moving logs to a staging spot to cut smaller and split.

This strange bug shows up. It flys slow. Slower than a grasshopper. When flying, looks like a pixie or fairie in the movies.

I thought for sure that I had proof of forest pixies. Lol

Popped a bead on the front right on the Kubota moving cut tree logs. A quick fix. Tomorrow I am installing the grapple to the FEL. Lots of cutting and moving logs to do.
