Took the RTV for a spin. Lots of leaves still left on the trees.

I drove over to Great Falls on Friday, and after living in Montana for almost 13 years, I still think it's one of the best road trip states in the country. The Tamaracks are changing color, snow is on the mountains and the roads have little in the way of traffic.

The second photo is the Missouri River in Great Falls.

Interesting clouds this evening across the valley, as viewed from the deck.

I was doing a little welding at the shop door the other evening when I heard something ominous. Called the power company and they sent a repair crew right out. In the meantime, I called the neighbor downline to see if she was having any problems. She said no, must not have AM radio.

I stopped at "the top" of the Colville National Forest on my way home yesterday to remove some liquid ballast and take a few photos. That's the Pend Oreille River valley below. There wasn't a soul around as I drove up and over the mountain which is just the way I like it.

This is @North Idaho Wolfman country.

What's not to love about open roads, snow capped mountains, lots of trees and the sweet sound of a big diesel engine singing away? This was heading out of Troy on my way home yesterday. Some of the Tamaracks still haven't lost their needles.

Here's one of the locals - a bit far away to get a good pic with my phone. A family of 4 hopped past but I was too slow.

I lived in Sydney for a year in 1983 and saw some of your locals then, but it wasn't until 1989 when I was in Sydney for my brother's wedding that I got to experience seeing and feeling (via the ground) hundreds of them down at Wilson's Promontory National Park. They're incredible creatures.

We don't see Bald Eagles often, I've spotted them a couple times up and down the Mohawk River here in central NY. Yesterday my wife came back from shopping and burst into the house saying two were in our front yard. At least 5+ years old, either siblings or a mating pair, hard to tell. Took the picture with my cell phone looking through my binoculars for lack of a better camera. They hung out for about 25 minutes and then took off. Made my day!

This little guy ran around for about 10 minutes on our back deck carrying this black walnut like he couldn’t figure out what to do with it. Kind of impressive they’re able to bust into those things.
