This pair has been around for 2-3 years. I see one here and there on my travels but they don't seem to be common. I was surprised to see it up in the feeder. That’s definitely a fellow. Ring necked Pheasant cock bird.
Don’t know much about PEI, but doubting there’s an indigenous population there?
He’s got some long tail feathers of a wild bird.
Often stock birds are identified with short tail feathers due to cage raising, etc. But a stock bird would have been released 6-8 months ago or so.
We used to have sustained populations in central New York decades ago, but dwindled as farms decreased.
Do occasionally see them still, but typically are stocked birds. Don’t make it through the winter usually.
He looks great - with all the snow maybe he was just having trouble finding some food - your food looked good! This pair has been around for 2-3 years. I see one here and there on my travels but they don't seem to be common. I was surprised to see it up in the feeder.
Nice mule deer!
Season was over with and I'm sure they knew it and were comfortable watching me take their picture. In Nevada bow season is in August. Black powder is September, and rifle starts the first weekend in October.Nice mule deer! Not sure about hunting in Nevada i.e. when is bow or rifle season? Just wondering if these guys know when the season starts.
