Caught this American Copper on Sky Blue Aster on my prairie habitat.
Even though here in central Wisconsin is already showing signs of fall there is still plenty of color. Asters are an important late season nectar/pollen source.

I have a large zoom unit I sit in my blind (kitchen window) on this one. One of my brush piles served as home and romper room for 5 kits.

I was wondering.. so many people get great shots with their phones now days so I wasn't sure. I think about getting my stuff back out but just haven't been motivated enough lately.

A few from Friday night football; a post fumble recovery celebration and some nice runs. I had to scramble a couple of times on the sidelines to avoid plays ending up well out of bounds but that is part of the fun of shooting sports.

The final two photos are non-action shots and I really like the one of the player re-hydrating. I shot it with my Canon 1DX III with EF 400 f2.8 between snaps and although the 400 f2.8 isn't a classic portrait lens, it is an ultra-sharp prime and still retains good detail shot under poor light with the camera at ISO 20,000.

Captured with Canon 1DX II and 1DX III bodies using EF 24-70, 70-200, and 400 f2.8 glass. Files downsampled to reduce size to forum file size limit.

Northern Nevada has been relatively free of smoke this summer because the California wildfires were up north, near the Oregon border so the smoke missed us. That all changed a week ago when the "Mosquito" fire took off. It is due west of Lake Tahoe so the winds are carrying the smoke directly over northern Nevada. "Very Unhealthy" and "Hazardous" air quality reported around Reno. I took this photo tonight through the thick smoke of the sun going down behind the mountain west of my house.
