I don't have a very high opinion of PETA for any number of reasons, this pretty much takes the cake!
Never been prejudice ever but just been scammed outta 11000.00 bucks because my lawyers email got hacked which we will get back however if I could catch them and know beyond a shadow of a doubt God forgive me but I also know beyond a shadow of doubt if they were next to me I'd put my hunting knife up to the guard in the side of their head. Simple answer. Social media. Prior to social media there was no place for idiots to broadcast their idiotic views, except maybe MTV. Now it's welcomed and embraced. Its still a very small minority, but now they have a huge platform and voice.

We used to have cows. They don’t understand English and are far too stupid to be offended by much of any speech.
Edit: Upon further reflection the evidence tends to indicate intelligence is not a prerequisite to being offended. I do stand by my opinion that bovines do not understand human language and therefore are incapable of being offended by human linguistic terminology.
