MX6000 oil Seperator. What is the purpose of this?

The new engines only require oil changes at 400 hours because they are not blowing the exhaust back into the inside of the engine and making dirty oil.

I would think that the number of cold starts to get to that 400 hours is relevant in terms of oil health. Some of us will want to change oil based on the calendar rather than the hour meter. I have two tractors which reduces the hours on each, but 100 to 150 hours per year per tractor isn't unreasonable. I'm much more likely to change oil every 200 hours or 18 months.

With low mileage cars and trucks once a year is a pretty standard recommendation. I figure that works for low use tractors as well.

That seems very reasonable. I plan on using my tractors for at least another 20 years, so both are on a preventative maintenance program.

I feel that the Kubota 200 hour oil change recommendation is too long, for my usage of only 10 hours per year.
To be conservative, I will instead change oil at every 100 hours.
Thus, my next oil change is planned for 2033.
In 2033 I will only be 92.
If alive then,..... probably will not give a chit about changing Kubota oil.

Yes I'm in the camp of low use per year = automatic filter fluid changes per year because of non use.

Thanks for all the replies. I did not mean to open a can of worms here.

I have gotten in the habit of running oil analysis on our equipment at the golf course. When this one is analyzed I will post up a new thread on it. Oil separator at 1500 hrs. We do on average 3-4 hundred hours per year on most equipment here.
