Wondering if folks could recommend an engine oil for this besides Kubota's own?

Per the owner's manual this calls for API CD, CE, or CF in 10W30 or 10W40.

The only oil I'm finding in CF is Shell Rotella T1, which is a straight weight. Definitely need a multiweight here due to climate/winter.

I use Valvoline extreme synthetic for diesel motors. Lots of people use Rotella T6. Both are good.

Amsoil or no oil…
I'll run Olive Oyl if that meets the spec! (Maybe some spinach for more power?)

Seriously though, I've heard some late-spec oils shouldn't be used in the older diesels, and don't want to mess up here. Will run the Kubota stuff if I need to, but unlike say the UDT2 I doubt there's anything special provided it meets spec.

There was heavy sarcasm in my reply 😂. But any diesel rated oil will work for you. I personally use rotella 5w40 in mine.

Ok, think I got it figured out.

Per the source, API.org, and if I'm reading it correctly:

• Service categories CD, CE, and CF are long obsolete.
• CH-4 and CI-4 are designated replacements.
• What this machine CAN'T use is FA-4.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. :) Was assuming this machine is fairly forgiving on engine oil (and appears it is), but it can get expensive to assume.

Shell Rotella T-4 (Dino) or T-6 (Synthetic), you can get it in 10w30, 5w40, and 15w40 all of them will work equally well in your tractor.

And a Very good substitute to UDT, is Mystik JT5.

Any CJ-4 or CK-4 rated oil, preferably full synthetic, in 0W-40, 5W-40, or 15W-40…

The “C” stands for Compression…
The “J” or “K” is the version,
and the 4 is for 4 stroke, I believe.

The first number is viscosity when cold, hence the “W” after..
The second number is viscosity when hot…

This is a general rule of thumb, there are situations where other viscosities and/or ratings may be needed…
