Lifting 5gal cans of diesel fuel a problem

It doesn't matter how easy it is to pump diesel into the tractor, it's PAYING for it at the pump that's the PAIN !!!
$2.40 here now, expect $2.65 mid July.... Too bad Canada doesn't have any oil in the ground....

This is a perfect solution for someone that uses a lot of fuel. It would be an overkill for me since I only use 10-15 gal a month. But-I still havent seen a fuel transfer pump that I am in love with yet so I am going to leave this option on the table for now. Wonder if there is a 15-20 gal version of this?

There is a 37 gallon tank that I considered. The 50 gallon is easier to store and move though. For you needs it is overkill. Consider one of these instead, can wheel it around and if you have a trailer, just roll it right on, get it filled and roll it right off.

I saw too that some of the smaller ones when laid on their back to transport and fill, lose some of their capacity. I wanted something I could either fork into my truck bed or was easy to fill by using smaller jugs, if needed.

I used a 5 gal jug once, annoying for my back to hold the jug while pouring. I switched to a 2.5 gal VP jug with a curved spout. Works great. When I get too old to lift/pour the 2.5, I'll switch to a 1 gal jug. When I get to weak for the 1 gal jug, I doubt I'll be in any shape to be on the tractor in the first place

Oh, you will still be using the tractor even when you have gone down to a teaspoon at a time.

I got a cheapie 2-D-cell transfer pump too - - just got one with a longer hose to reach the 'Moline.

Gas cap is pushing 6 feet up, and I'm 6' 4". Good spot to set can on loader frame to get half way there. Wasn't an issue for me 40 years ago....

Works good - - can't go wrong for the $$.

The Tera pump I have seems to be running forever on 2 AA rechargable cells. May be like my toothbrush which seems to run a year or more on a single rechargable AA.

I wish mine had lasted, since it was leaking badly. To make things worse, when I set it aside so that "some day" I could try to fix it, I forgot to to take the damn Duracells out and they leaked and destroyed the circuitry.

My terra pump has an ac plug, can take batteries (never tried that though) or alligator clips you can run off the battery.

Tera - deluxe model with 2.5 gpm, longer hose and nozzle. Still seems like I got a deal for $35 (?) or so.

If I didn’t need to reach further on the old-timer tractor, a $10 or $20 version would have been fine with me. Could probably extend the hose with a barb fitting and some tubing.

That's one reason why I like rechargables: don't leak. I just leave my 2 AA ones in the pump.

Not nessisarily a cheap set up, but I have an 8 gpm flow rite pump. It's rated for gas or diesel. Not super heavy has pretty long cord for power. Have a water blocking type filter on it. 12 volt. Works pretty well. 3/4" hoses on it. I should really get a gas pump style nozzle for it, but I use it to transfer in and out of a 275 gal tank. Gas nozle would get old to hold open imo. It's a bit slow for larger tanks. I also have this "heavy oil pump" it was made to pump oil in and out of a Komatsu powered generator. It's really fast, but 24 volt, and quite heavy. Used it a lot when I did road work. Every thing was 24 volt and held lots and lots of oil. Made life easy. Now I just hate to use the heavy bugger. I have a poly 55 gal drum rigged up with some 2x4 and metal straps to toss in the back of the truck. Not ideal, and I only fill it to about 40 gallons. But it works. Just hook that little fill rite up to the bottom hole in it. Open the valve and pump into whatever. It's real handy when I'm not around the house and working in the woods, or over at my mom and dad's place. One day I'll get a real transfer tank.....
