Not to hijack this discussion, but the quick hitch topic is something I’ve wondered about. I have never had a quick hitch except for Pat’s on a previous tractor. My current tractor has a category 2 hitch and I have both cat2 and a few few cat1 implements that I use with adapter bushings. How could I use a quick hitch with all of my implements?

I have both, cat 1 and 2 quick hitches. It is a bit of a pain changing back and forth, but not as much as trying to connect directly to the implement.

I’m wondering if it would be worth it since I have extendable lift arms? They make a huge difference.

Hmm… I see that HF has the cat 1 quick hitch on clearance for $135. How does the top hook work with the top link?

The top link is an eye. How does the hook on top of the quick hitch attach to the eye?
The implements that are quick hitch compatible will accept the hook, they will have something round for the hook to catch.

Wirh a pin just like any 3pt implement.. Once the QH is on the tractor the hook is what grabs the top pin in the actual implement.

Duh. So obvious. I must have had a brain fart. I shouldn’t post questions late at night. So if a bought a cat 2 quick hitch could just keep the bushings on the pins of the cat 1 implements, and the quick hitch would work for all my implements.

No. Because the cat2 hitch is wider and taller. Some implements will connect to both if the mounts are large enough, some will not.

Eureka! Got the top link extension from the welder just in time for weekend. Great folks and quality work. Checked it out for fit and it does the trick. The top link now easily reaches my implements and allows me tip back the box blade. Need a few pins from the dealer but a success. Flap disced it and primed and painted this evening. Will let paint hard set for 24 hours amd re-install.

Also figured out I can just reach top link hydraulic control lever through the cab open rear window to get link adjusted to proper length for hookup. Finally coming all together. Thanks again all for advice.

Just go to TSC and buy the pins. Way cheaper than the dealer.

Thanks Jyoutz. Tried TSC. This pin is not available there. It's the pin that holds the hydraulic top link to the tractor. It has to be short to fit between the lower 3pt lift cylinders and still make it through the bracket. The pins at TSC are too long. In fact, the parts department at dealer also sold me ones that are too long. I'll bring the needed pin with me today to dealership. Fortunately they are open today despite the holiday weekend.

Might want to look for 3/4" clevis pins.

Top link extender done and installed. Now on to the next challenge. Always something interesting when it comes to running the tractor.
