I purchased my L3800 new in 2014. It's still cranking fine on the original battery but I've been wondering if I should just go ahead and replace it.

I purchased a new L3830HST new in June of 2006. It currently has +/- 725 hours and still has the original battery!

My 2012 L4600 still as original battery in it, just came a check on the water level and keep terminals clean.

When she starts slowing down when cranking I'll replace but till then.

This tractors start so easy I don't believe their very hard on a battery. I keep a trickle charger on mine whenever I'm not using it.

my old BX23 (2006) was still cranking just fine on the original battery when I traded it last year. I always had it connected to a battery tender jr.

That exactly what I plan to do with my 3901, use a battery tender. My father had great success extending battery life with a tender.

Pleased to hear so many batteries lasted so long.

Other than on road vehicles, I use the battery tender jr's on all of my stuff, quads, mowers, boat and tractor.

I got 11 years out of the battery on my L3000 but it's used almost daily. But when it died, I mean it died.

I'm on my third in my 04 M9000 but it sits most of the winter.

I’m on year 5 with my BX, jeepers why did I say that.....[emoji12]
I keep it on a tender when not in use much and most of the winter.
I do use it year around.

I wish I had my tractor at my house right now. I just couldn't get away to go get it at the camp today. Sure hope a pine tree doesn't fall on it.

16 years for me! 2002 L4310 GST with 600 hours or so on it. Just replaced the original battery this late spring. It started fine in the coldest conditions last winter in NH. This tractor was never connected to a tender and sat under a carport-like structure. It would sits for weeks before being used again. When it died, it was from one day to the next. I recall putting about 5 hours on it at wide open throttle mowing. I parked it at the jobsite and shut her down. Next day I arrived to trailer it home, and it wouldn't even turn over. It was very hard to jump start - finally went. Dealer thought it was a record for an original battery.

My 2013 B2920 has 500 hours and is original, and my 2018 MX4800 is of course original but 5 years doesn't impress me at this point!

My experience is that original batteries that come with new vehicles live 50% longer than replacement batteries in the Texas heat. I buy only Glass Matt batteries because I don't like corrosion from lead acid batteries that can climb up into the cables etc. I used to get the Odyssey re-badged as a Sears Die Hard Platinum but the re-badging ended and Odysseys are too expensive otherwise. I get the Auto Zone AGM's and have had great luck so far with the 7.3 powerstorke, Camry and Land Cruiser. I tried to get my tractor without a battery so I could go straight to AGM but they already had the lead acid battery in it. I'll be checking for corrosion and cleaning often.

Mine is at 5 years, and try to keep a battery tender on it, succeeding during the winter.

It'll stay in the tractor until it completely fails. I can't afford to replace stuff for the fun of it. When it does fail, that's what jumper cables and battery chargers are for. Though the layout of the BX makes it really difficult to get to the battery posts. Obviously designed by someone who's never had to jump start, or maintain, anything.

I recently sold a ~17yo BX2200 with it's 2nd battery. The first one was ~11 years old. Wintering in a garage that rarely goes below freezing helps.

Just realized my tractor is six years old. Got me thinking about my battery. She is stored in a non heated pole barn and doesn’t get a whole lot of use in the winter.

My motorcycle came with a battery tender and I keep it plugged in when it’s sitting. So I thought it would be a good idea to put one on the Kubota. I didn’t realize some of you have gotten so many years out of your original batteries.

Stopped by the local rural king and bought their brand instead of the battery tender brand. It’s says it’s a battery maintainer and float charger 12 volt.
Specifications:
Input power:120VAC,60HZ, 0.10A
Output:750mA/12vdc
Battery capacity: 5-125Ah
Red light:charging
Green light: maintaining

This stuff is completely foreign to me, so is this the right type of “battery tender” ? Their brand was half price verses the actual battery tender brand. Just curious if I should take it back and get the other one instead or will this one work just as well?

Thanks
