Well, there I was out "trail blazing" when my buddy yells "STOP, shut it down!"

Then he directs my attention to this "blood trail".

I smelled it thinking it could be diesel or hydraulic fluid. No diesel smell, so hydraulic fluid it is.

I am sure glad that I put that "red dye" in the system.....There is no way in hell he/I would have seen this if it was "factory clear"

We walked around but could not find any other traces.....but I know that somethings run amuck.

Well here is the culprit.

Can anyone tell me what that tube is called, and offer some hints as to how hard it's going to be to R@R?



It appears to go from the filter to the "main hydraulic reservoir"

The 'flange' appears to be bent not letting the o-ring to seat properly, so I am thinking that I might try to either "tap it" back to flush; Or remove it, straighten it and reinstall it to see if that works.

Any thoughts/ideas?

If you remove it to adjust how are you going to know when it's where it needs to be? I'd try to find a solid place to brace against and pry on it gently down by the twisted flange. Won't take much. Maybe a pry bar right down on that flange and against that housing. Of course loosen the bolt a bit before attempting.

Price a new one. You may find its not wortj your time trying to fix the old one. Support your local dealer in this time of economic hardship

I'd take it off, Clean it up and Braze it.


It's an easy job and save yourself $100.00 +

(actually, I'd Tig weld it with silicon bronze filler rod.... but still "technically" brazing... I reckon)

Just bite the bullet and get the rings and tube. Some things aren't worth the time or trouble to fix (and maybe do twice).

No, it's leaking because the flange pulled away and the o-ring blew out.

Might try to straighten. Gearwrench indexing pry bars help with that type of work.
New line not too expensive to replace and be a sure fix.

And you are correct about the "tank thing", I was definitely not using it properly.

Since it does not look too had to get to, my current plan for this weekend is to remove and try to straighten this one.

If it was "hours and hours" of work to get at it, I would simply replace it, but it don't look too bad to get to. (hahaha....... famous last words....)

Hmmm, looks like the pipe from the sump eh? Removing will drain the hydro oil I'd guess, so have a couple of deep pans ready!.

Might be a good time to consider making a skid plate for the next time you go "dashing through the snow"!

I was actually just thinking about making one of those....Either that or I need to stop doing dumb sh!t with my tractor. (kind of a toss up....LOL)

I would like to have the properly sized o-rings on hand when I get it off, cause I'm thinking at least one is "toast".

Edit: I have a "generic" set of replacement O-rings in the shop, but these could be some sort of "special" ones that my kit might not have.
