I've finally installed both of mine.
They work like a charm, fast reliable and super quiet.
We have a generator, but they also have battery backup.

I have 5 garage doors, and I have replaced 3 of them with the Liftmaster 8500W and one with the Chamberlain RGO20, and have one more to do. I removed all the chain drive units before they started to fail on a more regular basis. One unit had a part in it fail, and I fixed that, and a little more than a month later, another part in that unit failed. That is when I decided that they were better than 20 years old, and to replace them all. I am patient and keep watching Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for sealed boxed units at good prices.

We have a great overhead door guy in our area. Installed both of my doors, but I had Craftsman openers.

From what I understand, he does Chamberlain openers exclusively on small doors.

I have 2 20 yr old Craftsman openers. Still working. However, a short while ago I noticed chain sag. On closer inspection I found the tab, where the chain fastens to the quick release mechanism, at the door end, was failing and ready to break. Would be nasty to have that chain fall atop my shiny Kubota hood, my head or my cars..trucks. I quickly fabbed up a repair bracket and welded it in place. 👍👍

@North Idaho Wolfman, so it appears that the opener and door spring work in conjunction? Did your opener come with the opener spring system, or was that spring system a left-over from the old opener?

Looks like a great setup!

The spring is to offset the weight of the door. All properly setup doors can be easily opened with one hand. The motor 'opener' just allows you to push a button instead of doing 'manual ' labour.
What I see is that the wall mounts are usually 2X the price of overheads, yet cheaper to make puts more coins into the pockets of the mfrs.

Think it was Ca that put into law ALL new garage door openers had to be battery backed up...
Wonder why they don't mandate CO detector to control them as well ?

The wall mount units are a far better design, faster and quieter than an old style overhead opener.
They also work with the new insulated heavy doors.
one other plus is it can't bend the top of the door.
There is also a electrical dead bolt on them, so no opening the door without the opener working it or manually overriding it.
You can actually add a CO2 sensor to them if you want.
They are on the network so I can remotely operate or monitor them.
real handy when working around the yard and you need to open the door to get that quick something... like a cool drink out of the garage fridge!

Like GreensvilleJay said the springs are stock with the door, they balance the weight of the door.
These doors have heavier than normal springs because they are thick heavy insulated doors.
I keep the garage heated to 60's so the insulated doors are super important.

It's kinda important to actually inspect and oil those springs every year.Just a light coating to prevent rust. If nnever oiled they can rust and it's real impressive as to what happens next......

I have a triple-bay garage with Genie screw-drives on all 3 doors. They were installed in 1995 and have never failed to work and the center one is opened and closed at least twice daily. 25 years times 365 times 2 …. 18,250 operations….. lubed the screw-drives once about 5 years ago using the Genie graphite-grease recommended…..no problems. Ever.

24 years old at the old house. They were there when I bought it. Never touched them. Hope the last 5 years have been good to the new owners. 😳

replaced my own opener, track, spring a couple weeks ago. Not too hard to do. Service call is $150 minimum plus labor at the overheard door place, and the last time I hired one of those clowns, they showed up and did their work all the while smoking cigs which lingered in the house for a while afterwards. Not happening again. What I needed to do was easy enough for me to do that I did it. Worst part is tensioning the spring, made a tool to do it. I have used 3/8 drive extensions in the past but they don't fit all that tight so I made a couple.

I want a couple jackshaft openers but they are way too expensive.

re: I want a couple jackshaft openers but they are way too expensive.

YES...waay overpriced especially when you consider there's far less parts.
Make your own is easy... small FHP right angled gear motor,2 sprockets, length of chain.slip clutch(optional). if you want 'fancy' add a chip for the 'bell and whistles' like WIFI and security. I got 3 free ones ,used 'industrial overhead door' units from local guy.
