I'll call around some more, milling co only sales 18W loads in bulk, textured/milled feed. Otherwise it's $17.55 per 75lb bag, cows on pasture/hay would need 4lbs per day, not too cheap.

I think so, I'll call the milling co. What are those bulk bags running ya?
I can have the feed store size the bags so at least my tractor can safely unload them. I usually try to get 1400-1500 # bags. They can go up to 1800#. The feed store off loads the pellets into the bags from a semi which comes weekly. Takes 1500# x .16 ( for 14% pellets) = $240. The 16% would be times .18 per/lb.

That cost includes the bags, and they will hold up to 2500# I'm quite sure. They have 4 straps at the top corners. I use my bale spear on the front (on my 730 Case) and either get close enough to get the loops on the long spear or use a chain to get through each loop and then the spike.

Here's some pictures. I took one of those 300 gallon totes, cut the top tubing, screwed the plastic back on the tubing and added hinges. Perfect storing to keep coons and possums out. The last picture shows a near empty bag. I just scoop the pellets out of the bag with a 5 gal. bucket.

I just called the feed store and they get their pellets from Cargill. She said Cargill is down in your area. Also ADM. Keep digging!

Maybe you can set up a bulk delivery, even if you need to get some neighbors to participate using them. I used your zip code of 78102 and they show something in Victoria.

Appreciate all the info, Victoria, Tx is an hour & 10min drive and we visit there about 3 weeks or so. I will get some prices from them tomorrow. But, honestly after 3 to 4 years and burned up with consistent droughts continued losses, I'm about to give up next Spring.... Definitely not taking on any more head of cattle or land leases, the 1st year was great and has since spiraled down since. I don’t accept failure, I learn, adjust and adapt and move on to plan b, d, etc. It's all up in air at this point. I could be fishing more on the coast than worry about the homestead.

Spent the day setting up an electric fence on 4 of my acres. The grass is almost up to my butt so I'm going to let the neighbor's two horses in and clean it up.

We' been under a flood watch for the last 2 hours, not a drop received...yet, lol.

But, the news has our area highlighted to receive 12 to 18in this week!!
So, I put out a Texas size rain guage out, I'll remove the bricks once it has enough water in it from blowing away.

Picked up my 3 bale allotment from the feed store today.

The few row crops in the area are crispy and many pastures are way overgrazed.

Went it comes to fencing here's a simple reminder: If it ain't tight it ain't right!

PoTreeBoy, you said, "Fences are to animals as locks are to people - they keep the honest ones in/out."

Most farmers will put up with a lot of things but not an animal that keeps challenging fences. They quickly get a ride to the sale barn!! Now if we had a similar process for humans the violated rules we'd have less broken rules! ;)
Including fraud charges? :sneaky:

I hope you get plenty but not enough to be flooded out.
New updates show the entire county supposed to get a minimum of 4in.
I'm not worried about flooding, more about soil erosion from the already parched earth. We need the rains, it's possible another system will develop in the gulf next week as well.

@Siesta Sundance - wishing you get your much needed rain.

Also hoping that you don’t get too much……

I’ve gotten so I can generally identify your locale on the Weather Channel maps….

Best wishes to you and yours.

Thanks!

It's crazy, we hadn't had a drop all day, I have feeling it's just gonna dump on us when the rain bands do arrive. We need the rain bad.

June 18

Texas named the lizard the official state reptile in 1993, and June 18 is Texas Horned Lizard Day in the state.

and guess what I encountered today while out mowing weeds....

Wash a car or paint something outside. If you have the same luck I have, it will rain shortly afterwards!

Hope you get some moisture soon.
