I have two vintage Rockwell lathes - an 11" and a 14" that I moved with a pickup and trailer. You might be surprised what you can move if you are motivated. My largest machine is an 8000# mill that I moved with the help of a rollback driver and unloaded with a rented forklift.

Machine tools are a lot like tractors. Once you buy one you always want/need a bigger one....

I sure wish I had a "quick change" gear box on my Craftsman.

Nice machines!

So I removed the other side (driver side) last night, and found it to be 25.4mm (1").

I cleaned up the first one and found it to be well worn, out of round in places. I think the other guy only used grease on the outside of his joints lol

I'll replace the part and go from there. And I cleaned up all the joints that had grease everywhere. Pet peeve of mine.

@Chris_ Your amount of pin play is NASA spec compared to my poor old L35.

I'm down to the FEL and bucket now on my resto - and Kubota stopped making the TL720 bushings.
Rude of them, I know.

That's why I visited Mr Wizard (@TheOldHokie ).
I think he could machine up a whole tractor in that shop!!

Dan's making me 2 bushings for the cylinders and 4 for the "dogbone" links (which did not have bushings and are wallowed out).

Ignoring lubrication is downright sinful.

No surprise I loved watching Mr Wizard!!! There is one small resemblance - we are both hair challenged !!

Sure glad I bought my lathe back 50 years ago before I was married.

That is unbelievable slop in that fitting for 250 hours. Obviously used without grease for some time. Hope you find an economical solution. As last resort you could drill out to a slightly larger size with a rented mag drill and install a larger pin. Just a thought. Would consider this if you are at the point of trying to remove the bushings.

Better up that $1K estimate number a bit!
Can't buy much of a lathe for $1K.

You have to be a discerning shopper. The two lathes in my picture were $600 and $800 each. The larger green mill on the right in this picture was $1300.

A friend of mine recently sold his lathe for around $700. I believe it originated from a school machine shop that was shutting down. A search of local sites shows decent lathes listed for around $4000.
I paid around $1400 for my new fully optioned Myford in 1974. It only has a 7" swing but has done everything I have ever needed.

That is a great price for a nice looking mill
I was very close to buying the "smaller" version of this ĺathe for $1000. From same guy that sold me my 14" Rockwell.

The used machine tool market is a lot like tractors. Little lathe, big price. Big lathe, little price:

Would have fit nicely in my shop with the other two lathes gone.. The smallest of the Pacemakers was the 14" x 30" - 18/27 speed gearbox, ~15 spindle horsepower and 8000 lbs. A cream of the crop 50s vintage "toolroom" lathe. Not as insanely precise as a Monarch EE but still very accurate and capable of much heavier cuts. I passed on it because the spindle through bore is only 1.75" and I thought I needed bigger. If it had been as pretty as this one....
