Looking at the stop linkage on your tractor, I think I might have steered you in the wrong direction, what you need is a momentary (timed) stop solenoid setup not the constant pull type.
In other words don't pull the spring out of the stop plate.
The solenoid you have will work for it, but you will need to get the timer and wiring for it to work right.
We'll be chatting! ;)

There is one Kubota timer stop relay on eBay. Part # T0070-31410 but it does not have a wire harness with it. Kind of pricey too @ $67.85

Yes they are pricey, but that is actually a good price on it. ;)

Estill Springs TN,
Bracket # 2 almost completed, I just love metal breaks, lathes, automated drill presses and CNC machines. This bracket took about 2 hours to make and now all I have to do is get some welding done here and there.

The alternator sits perfectly in place. The lower adjustment bracket is from a 1979 Datsun 510 wagon, I snagged several alternator brackets from various cars at the junk yard and the 510 bracket works best for my conversion.

Its all slowly going together and I'll work on it again after work tomorrow but I'm very pleased with the progress we made today. I've also figured out how to mount the stop solenoid.

Don't overlook changing ALL the fluids including the steering box. My B5100e had a torn shifter boot and allowed water into the transmission prior to buying it.

Yeah, all fluids are drained and will be replaced with new fluids and filters after I get everything reassembled. The steering box will get loaded with premium grease instead of oil though.

Estill Springs TN,
Both brackets have been welded together with all mounting holes drilled and are now finished. Next step is to line up the alternator rear pulley with the crankshaft and idler pulleys.

I had to make a 2-1/2 in long bushing for the top mount and all I need to do now is weld it in place once I have the alternator lined up correctly. I'm using C clamps to hold it in place and it seems very sturdy so I know its going to be stout once the bushing is welded to the upright bracket.

Estill Springs TN,
This afternoon I went to the parts store and found the belts I needed. They fit perfectly all around. I had one heck of a time trying to line everything up by myself but its done. I used a 3/8 X 42 on the rear and a 3/8 X 21 on the front.

Now that everything is ready to go I can get the last bit of welding done probably by Monday afternoon I hope.

Estill Springs TN,
Alrighty, got the last bit of welding done and the alternator bracket is now complete. The alt is mounted and if my measurement's are correct I should have 2 inches of clearance between the alt and hood when its closed.

Some of my parts arrived today. One of them was my replacement fan pulley. Now I can install and correctly adjust the belts witch I'll do tomorrow sometime. I also found a neat valve cover oil fill extension spout that I will install as well.

These are the parts and you will see that I also found the correct stop solenoid mounting hardware though I don't have the actual stop solenoid yet.

I also got the tachomter and drive gear along with a few other parts that will be added to the tractor.

I love how the title of this thread becomes more and more understated with each repair... it's funny as all heck.

So, it's about getting time to rename this model. I think it's diverged enough from what it was at factory roll out. Grumpy's Growler? L666? Gotta be something out there...

I just want video of it fired up and running! It looks awesome.

Thanks,

I have tried several times to change the title of this thread with no success. Maybe a site administrator or forum moderator could change it but I can't.
The title should read as "B7100 D950 swap with alternator upgrade and partial restoration".

I'll have to look into having that done.

I forgot that I do have a video of the old engine running before I disassembled everything but it doesn't show the entire tractor, its about 4 minutes long.

Nah, leave it. I like how it keeps getting more out of whack with what you are doing! :D

So its out of whack, guess this is where I stop posting here and move on.
LOL! No, keep going here! I didn't mean that in a bad way! It's fun/funny! It just means that the thread title is now a little snarky/sarcastic and I love it. I can't speak for the others, but keep going here!

I too like the title, fits your project very well. It's impressive seeing what you guys can do to these little tractors!

I see some b8200's pop up once and a while for less than 2k and you guys always have me thinking these motor swaps! It's way more than I could want to or ever handle. Good equipment mechanics that could do this around me are very few and far between. Come to think about it....I have a hard time finding a mechanic that can do a brake job and not squeak....
