Thanks guys, gonna be a long month waiting to get him. I kinda wanted a full size lab but at our age and my young lady only weighing in at 100lbs soaking wet and me a whooping 145 with a woody on I figured little Dallas would be a better fit.

Picked out my new little buddy yesterday from a rescue shelter and we will get to meet June 1st. Dallas is one year old coming to us from Texas and the first thing we'll have to teach him is how to say eh at the end of every bark.
Second thing you better do is get him a coat!!
My philosophy on pets is , they are God's gift to us. How we treat them is out gift to God.
Curious, do they put him on a plane to get him to you? Is there a group of animal lovers who share making short connecting trip to get him to you? Why a month wait?

They have to make sure everything is up to date and he will be neutered if he isn't already and checked and treated for heart worm. From what I've seen is they take in 50 dogs at a time at time and drive them here. My wife's sister in law has been in charge of it at this end for many years which makes me feel a little more at ease about getting him from them but like always ya pay your money and take your chances. Good plan on the jacket which kind of slipped my mind, not thinking about the difference in climate all though it is getting fairly nice and warm here now.Second thing you better do is get him a coat!!

I live about 50 miles south of Kansas City. A few months ago, outside of a nearby town of 3K a dog was found roaming in a neighborhood (actually in the country still) and was picked up by a resident to try to find the owner. Turns out the dog belonged to someone in Calif. and had been missing for months. When the owner was notified she was elated, but had no way to get him.
There was a woman visiting that town (Louisburg, Ks.) and would be returning to Calif. in a few days driving. As I remember, it was a ways out of her way but she delivered the dog to his owner!

Me too, however only the dog would know if it’s really a happy ending for the dog. Sometimes thhopefully they are returned to a good home.

If you read the story as reported in the article you would know this owner demonstrated love and compassion for her missing pal and had been looking and praying for him sine the day he went missing!

I’m blessed with a lot of trilliums around my property. Here is my ol boy amongst some of them. And my two puppers looking towards me as I enter the house.

I don’t know what trilliums are but nice dogs! My GSD is also in this thread.
