"Hammerin' Hank" Henry Louis Aaron passed away today. I was a sophomore in high school when he made #715 to break Babe Ruth's record in 1974, breaking so many boundaries in a world where racial relations were getting so much better than they are today. Having lived through those times, I can't help but wonder what went so badly wrong that we find ourselves where we are today. People like this man, did so much to blur the lines of race and culture that divided us in the 60's, while today's media does nothing but fan the flames of hatred driving us right back where we started. He was pure talent, and probably one of the most humble people in sports, but 100% business when he picked up the bat. I still remember the crack of that bat and watching the ball disappear. Rightfully so, he's considered one of the best to ever play the game.
RIP Hank.
