"Hammerin' Hank" Henry Louis Aaron passed away today. I was a sophomore in high school when he made #715 to break Babe Ruth's record in 1974, breaking so many boundaries in a world where racial relations were getting so much better than they are today. Having lived through those times, I can't help but wonder what went so badly wrong that we find ourselves where we are today. People like this man, did so much to blur the lines of race and culture that divided us in the 60's, while today's media does nothing but fan the flames of hatred driving us right back where we started. He was pure talent, and probably one of the most humble people in sports, but 100% business when he picked up the bat. I still remember the crack of that bat and watching the ball disappear. Rightfully so, he's considered one of the best to ever play the game.

RIP Hank.

I barely remember him breaking the record. That was in the pre-steroid days so no asterisk beside that record.

I was about 8 at the time and didn’t understand why some people were upset a black man broke a white man’s record. Putting up with some of the off field crap which he handled with grace and humility was as impressive as anything he did on the field.

I’m a lot older now and still don’t understand it. Believed then and now God made us all and sent his Son as a sacrifice for us all so if God valued us all, why one man (or woman) was worth more than another to some people was, and is, beyond my comprehension. Especially applicable to those who profess to be Bible believing Christians, and a large percentage of the racists and sexists I have personally known fall in that category. Maybe that’s anecdotal rather than empirical but that’s my experience.

I am not a sports fan but remember him. Actually when I saw that mentioned, I thought he had played for the Pittsburgh Pirates (I'm from Pittsburgh, guess wishful thinking)...

I was in the Army at the time that he broke the home run record. It was all the sports talk at the time. One thing the MSM did not report about his death was that he died two weeks after taking the covid vaccine.

Why would left-wing media report anything that resembles truth or fact that might really be important for everyone to know?

His death wasn't and won't be deterring me from getting the shot anyway. My own reservations and not less than average intelligence will.

Hank Arron died two weeks after taking one of the covid vaccines?

Lifter, how do you know when he took the vaccine? You have proof that the vaccine is what caused his death or is that something gleaned from some international tabloid?

RIP Hank

It's quite easy to determine when he took the vaccine. His getting the injection was made very public, televised that is, to promote the black population to get the vaccine because they are more susceptible to the virus according to those who know!

I wonder why they haven't listed it as a Covid death yet?

I'm not sure it's logic that says that at all, D2. It's more a regime with an agenda.

A friend died some years on Sunday afternoon, soon after attending church.

I guess I better stop going to church!

Applying the same logic that has been applied to Hank Aaron above...
Thinking you get to choose when is a good reason to keep going to church. And I don't remember reading anywhere in the good book that church should be skipped because of Covid.
