Crankcase can't vent properly on Perkins. DIY PCV?

They weren't high before, but now they are what I would call cool. Why would this happen? Great side effect though. Now I just wish I had more boost.... I have a few very small exhaust leaks pre-turbo... can't imagine that doing much because they are so small you can't feel them just see them...

Genuinely curious.... are any emissions systems better for the environment?

Lets avoid any politics but I am genuinely curious if any emissions systems are actually better for the environment. Some seem maybe and some I can't see how.... I am genuinely curious of this. For example my forklift is just an expensive fuel filter and otherwise nothing weird to cause...

White 2-105 odd 3 point issue

We have been fixing up this old white 2-105 tractor and bit by bit we're getting everything buttoned up. New issue though, when you put the 3 point down it just comes back up when you let go of the lever and so does the lever... why is this? Otherwise it's a good tractor, old stuff was so...

Crankcase can't vent properly on Perkins. DIY PCV?

I don't find alot of oil makes it out the vent tube, I set it up and it puts a noticeable but not excessive vaccume on the case

Crankcase can't vent properly on Perkins. DIY PCV?

It's a water pump, it dosen't move unless I'm towing it to another spot so running roll overs are a non issue haha. In my case I just have it blowing into the inlet of the filter housing. So it won't put much suction on the crank housing but it'll deal with the vapors while still allowing an...

Crankcase can't vent properly on Perkins. DIY PCV?

So yea..... fixing the vent was definitely a big help haha. I also am lucky my valve cover has another spot for a vent that's capped and 2 smallspots with caps that I'm not sure what optional things they are for.... so if I needed more venting I don't have to use the fill cap spot. I may just...

Crankcase can't vent properly on Perkins. DIY PCV?

So turns out the old crankcase hose had collapsed and the engine could barely vent.... so that's easy to solve. We actually caused the blowby.... when we attached the water pump we forgot to remove a spacer and it jammed the crank forwards putting a ton of sids force on atleast some of the...

Crankcase can't vent properly on Perkins. DIY PCV?

That's the thing it isn't even that much blowby....I have other with worse. It's like on a rebuild years ago they did somthing that blocked the channels or somthing? Or the source of the blowby is direct by the dipstick. I have no idea of the rings type, I know it has enough compression to...

Crankcase can't vent properly on Perkins. DIY PCV?

I thought I had a much bigger issue because I kept seeing oil splatter...... turns out although it'll pop the dip stick out a fair bit..... the main issue is a leaking turbo return line right in line with the fan. Thus the splatter

Crankcase can't vent properly on Perkins. DIY PCV?

I think I can officially say I really like perkins for some reason

Crankcase can't vent properly on Perkins. DIY PCV?

Idk what our fascination is with old engines that are full of issues is but I think it must be that they are easy to work on and don't give up easy ...... they just start leaking stuff or getting blowby....ect. So another perkins thing, one of mine has poor crank venting, the blowby isn't...

Finding a strong enough solenoid..... help

Perkins are thoes old style tough as hell engines but.... they have bad valve seals. Or atleast mine all do. Anyways it's kinda funny how it starts in the cold because one cylinder .... likely the main one getting oil in it... will start firing first and it will run like a hit an miss engine for...

Finding a strong enough solenoid..... help

I know the engine is a bit extra tough to turn over because of the valve guides... perkins engines seem notorious for wearing them. So when it starts after sitting for a day or 2 there's a small amount of oil in some cylinders. Nothing substantial but enough to raise compression a bit which...

Finding a strong enough solenoid..... help

Fair enough I'll double check as I'm pretty sure they were ok but why not check. I know my ground is fine as that originally was a bad cable... so I went to my local electrical/machine shop and all they had was some massive braided cable that with casing is like 3/4 inch 😄 🤣. I said perfect put...

Finding a strong enough solenoid..... help

Professionally rebuilt a year ago, brushes checked over the winter and when I looked inside at the brushes nothing was corroded or burnt.

Finding a strong enough solenoid..... help

True although it's not a wire issue as if I cross the terminals in a way that engages the solenoid but also sends power to the starter to spins the engine no problem. With just the solinoid the starter just engages the flywheel but can't turn it. Put a new solinoid on and it works for a while...
