    Fuel consumption

I don't have a 2501 but I do have a B2920 which has a few more HP despite being in a smaller frame size tractor. To me, that is a very efficient machine. Most of it's life is spent operating wide open. I think it only holds 6 gallons. My 2002 L4310 GST also seemed very fuel efficient. My...

How long did your original battery last?

Actually, your tractor does have an ECU to control your engine, just like a car. It monitors a variety of electronic sensors including crankshaft position, engine speed, mass airflow, DPF delta pressure sensors, EGT sensor, coolant temp sensor, etc. The ECU takes these readings and actuates the...

If you read his post, you'd see the problem was his battery - he replaced and is all set now.

    Glo Plug Cold weather

I changed my oil at 72 hours...was totally black as ink, like every other diesel I've ever changed oil on. Tranny and hydraulic fluid was super clean though. As a side note, the battery they replaced your original with won't be the same as original. My dealer said a replacement Kubota is very...

    Glo Plug Cold weather

Interesting. Despite the different RPM levels, our regens were about the same. I definitely idle my tractor though. I've added some Rigid cube lighting to the canopy and I think nothing of letting my tractor idle for a couple of hours just to run lighting when I'm working on the woods at night.

    Glo Plug Cold weather

Nice...as they should have. Since we have nearly identical hours, my MX4800 has only had two regens as well. My last regen was about 5 hours ago I'd say. How do you use your tractor? Most of my hours are flail mowing fields at wide open throttle.

I think if you posted that video right off, we all would have immediately said "battery!" It's sometimes hard to explain something in the form of text. The videos were great. Given the low hours and short time you've owned the tractor...did the dealer give you another free of charge? Very...

Thanks for taking the time to post the vids. That definitely is not normal and would seem like the battery is indeed the culprit (and turned out it was!). Glad you got it fixed.

    is 4x4 workig right? B21

They really do have 4-wheel drive. If you lifted a tractor so all 4 wheels were off the ground, engaged 4x4, and put the tractor into gear (or pressed the forward HST pedal)...all four wheels would be spinning. The action of the differential is what causes loss of traction when on surfaces of...

    is 4x4 workig right? B21

That's not correct. Power will always flow through the path of least resistance. So in an open differential scenario, power will tend to go to the wheel that is slipping the most. And THAT is why lockers and limited slips are made...to help move power to the side that is slipping the least (or...

    is 4x4 workig right? B21

Nope, it really is 4x4. Power "has the opportunity" to flow to all four wheels. It's not like it defaults to one particular wheel in the front and one particular wheel in the rear. Power always flows to the path of least resistance through an open differential. That means if all your tires are...

    14 (f) here this AM...

Yeah. Looks like cold through Thursday, warmup with a mix Saturday, then cooling back down next week. No snow in sight. Seems like most of our snow comes from coastal storms rather than the clippers.

    14 (f) here this AM...

Here in NH, it was about 5F this morning. I wasn't paying attention the weather lately and did not plug in my truck, nor did I go out and start it up a few minutes early. Did not have heat for most of the way to work. I guess the next couple of days are supposed to be colder. Not happy to see a...

    Glo Plug Cold weather

Big difference between 5w40 and 15w40. Kubota doesn't recommend 5w40 as far as I know. Multi-weight oils with a big gap between viscosities tend to have less sheer resistance in warm temperatures. I agree with you on Rotella. I put T6 in both my 6.7L Powerstroke and 6.7L Cummins pickups.

    Glo Plug Cold weather

I'm amazed that dealer after dealer insists on running the 15w40 oil. In Kubota's own Owner's Manual, it states 15w40 is only good down to 22F (-6C). Well, it frequently gets a lot colder than that around here...last winter we saw -22F (-30C). So if I needed to use the tractor in those temps...

    Ready to fire NEWS

"...The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." In my opinion, this means that any US citizen may acquire, keep, carry, and operate firearms. Period. Generally speaking, of course we don't want to put a deadly weapon in the hands of psychos...whether that be a gun...

    $300 For 50 hour service on L2501

I am just now doing the 50 hours service on my 2018 MX4800 HST at 71 hours. From the Kubota dealer, $181 for a new engine oil filter, HST filter, hydraulic filter, and 9 qts of regular Kubota 10w30 oil. The engine oil filter is cheap, the other two filters are not. That, and the dealer giving me...

    Gear Noise on MX_5200 4wd

I test drove a 2018 MX5200 this past summer with a manual gear transmission before buying a new MX4800 HST. It also made noticeable noise during operation, especially at lower RPMs. I just attributed it to having gears. Nice machine.

    Diesel Cold Weather Additive

Back then, diesel engines were very different. They used mechanical, indirect injection and the pressures were much lower. Additionally, diesel fuel had a much higher sulfur content which acts as a lubricant. As an aside, the lower HP (non-DPF) Kubota diesels on brand new tractors still use...
