Yeah, lets over complicate things by adding a solenoid:D If twigtree can fish that ring terminal through through the dust boot on the inboard lug this would require no modification at all. Option B is to splice the wire onto the wire that energizes the solenoid when you hit start.

I would try it on the big post that‘s inboard on the solenoid next to the block. That way it’ll be hot when starting which is how the old one was wired.

Sounds like what was wrong with my starter. Contacts in the solenoid get dirty/worn and don't pass the juice to the starter motor when it engages. I posted some pics about the repair about a month ago. Pretty easy fix.
