    B20 seized clutch

Well, $4k is still expensive for a 2 day shop job, but it makes sense now... at 16 hours that's $212 per hour for the mechanic/shop... so very high- OUCH. I would guess that job should be 8 hours @ $100 per hour plus 30-50% for the shop. That put's the work at $1700 to $2000 for a reasonable...

    B20 seized clutch

Don't know about how expensive they should be but $4000.00 sounds like it should buy a new motor or entire transmission to me, let alone a new clutch. Ouch. This says it's a B20... http://static.fastline.com/assets/item/050/092/0b3949e6-55c0-4b69-a98c-9f4712e6dfb4.jpg That should have less...

Chipper vs chipper shredder worth the extra $?

You may want to consider other avenues as well. If the cost difference is enough to warrant thinking about it, you can always pile up leaves and other light materials into a compost heap and mix them with your chippings. In about a year or two it makes a great thing to spread around or till...

Think I want a box blade

Ya, a box on turf tires sounds like a recipe for grinding down turf tire rubber! However, you can counter that with chains when you use the box, so don't be too worried about it. Definitely weighted tires or weight on the rear axle. If you don't have 4wd, it's going to make pulling...

    Horsepower advice

If the transmission is the same as a tractor model that came with/without a turbo, that's certainly one way to gain HP. If it's not, you could be jeopardizing an older drivetrain that couldn't handle that kind of power bump. I've been taught that engines and transmissions 'age' together. If...

Think I want a box blade

Oh, I know it's larger but since I don't have a b6200 I don't know how 'torquey' it is. It's less about the horsepower and more about the torque so gearing plays a big role. If you are really worried about a 4' being too large, you can just go for a naked blade and get similar results with...

    BX25D mod walk around

She's a beauty! I was torn between the BX25D and the L3200 when I went shopping. I could've gotten the 25D for only $100 more and gained the backhoe, but with 6 acres, everyone I asked all came down on the more horsepower side... I have a large backhoe but I hope the decision to not get the...

Think I want a box blade

It's really going to depend if you are using rippers or not. With rippers fully engaged and the blade digging also, that's a large amount of drag, so I'd assume the recommendations are based on that scenario. If you aren't going to use rippers, you can probably go with a larger blade. If you...

    Horsepower advice

I have a very old bit of Orange iron, AC Orange, not K Orange. (Orange seems to be a great tractor color!) My father and I adjusted the valves on this old girl about a year ago and it got a little power back. I'm not sure your pressure problem is age, this gal has been around for 60 years and...

    Diesel Fuel Boogers

Another option is to add a bit of Denatured Alcohol to the fuel, not much. It will absorb the water moisture in the tank and oddly, allow it to burn off in running the tractor. That is the 'old timers' solution I've been given for water in the tank. I know you can't add too much because it...

    B7800 Won't Start Electrical Problem

Sounds like I should invest in some silicone sleeves to put around the wire harnesses of my new L3200... I hate electrical problems with a passion and don't want any like this to show up... ugh! I wonder why Kubota doesn't provide a little more protection or stress relief in their...

    Unknown Rim

Hmmm... I've always just gone by Rim diameter/width, Hole spacing, center bore size and weight rating then found the tires that fit it... I guess if you're talking specific tractor application then there would be changes in rim sizes per factory configuration for the rims. Okay, I think I get...

I have a GF1800 front deck, anti-freeze in the oil

Majority of cost would likely be in labor but you're going to be in for at least $100 in parts but it depends on what you find when you get in there. Standard protocol for a head gasket is to have the head ground flat and the motor at least lapped to check for low spots. If you didn't run it...

    Unknown Rim

Wouldn't the rim be agnostic to the kind of tread on the tire? I always thought they were made to handle certain weight loads, not tread types... I'm asking out of curiosity...

No, you tell her that after going in circles all day, you needed to unwind in the other direction... :D

    L3710 Hydrastatic Fluid change

$300? Ouch! Sounds like an opportunity to find a less expensive solution for an aftermarket company out there.

B7100 won't start ran out of fuel

Good thought Big K. Yeah, tanks dump all their gunk into the filter when they go dry... had that happen too, but in the fuel separator of my old iron ORANGE tractor.

    Hydrostatic Tractor Slowing Down

Can't speak directly with experience of the HST, my L3200 is gear drive, but I understand that a great deal of the time issues with the HST are around the linkages to the pedal. You may have something stuck or is sticking, making you think you are full down when you aren't. I'd clean and lube...

    B7100 blowing filter

Filter should be on low pressure, pump intake side, if it's blowing out you might have a far larger problem on your hands. My guess (it could be wrong) is you're getting backpressure from the pump into the intake side under certain conditions. My gut feeling is a check valve is malfunctioning...
