CUT for timber clearing, plowing, grading

I realize that this is a tractor forum, but have you considered buying a (used) mini-ex to whip the property into shape, then selling it and buying a CUT for the maintenance chores? I don't know about today's market, but would think you could get most of your money back when you were done with it

    Stingy on fuel

Thanks. I was thinking maybe somebody else made a 4010 that was 18.5 hp. JD having both is as silly as my Ford 4000, which was a 961 with a new number (probably to match JDs 4 digit numbers of the era without actually improving the tractor). A few years later they actually redesigned the...

Warming HST oil VS engine oil

I do have a block heater. I'm looking at the >30 minute warmup time Kubota reccomends for my hydraulic fluid in the winter and trying to alleviate that somewhat. Remember my temps are significantly below their "low" range.

    Stingy on fuel

My JD 3020 took about 5 gallons of gas every time I moved snow. The Kubota uses much less. I was thinking less than a gallon of diesel for the same operation but I'm not real sure (it's been awhile) but much, much less fuel. Ralph, my 3020 claimed 70-ish PTO hp. I'm sure the 4010 was more...

Warming HST oil VS engine oil

I took an opportunity* to crawl under my Kubota and look for flat spots to adhere an aftermarket heater. While looking at all of that metal I was thinking that the (cast?) tranny housing is a lot thicker than a sheet-metal oil pan on a car. I'd end up putting a lot more heat into the casing...

    Tipping over

Ballast down low on the back will help with sideways stability. To much of the backhoe is up high, which can actually make it worse.

My first tractor - Need guidance

I had similar concerns. A guy on ytmag assured me: “ Break something? It’s just dirt”. I’m still not good at blading, but I am a little less hesitant.

Resurection From 2014 - BX22 Left to Me

Slow down, you're making me look bad! Seriously, I'm in the "keep the temporary fix until it breaks again" camp so you're way ahead of me. I liked the story of your friend and your "new" tractor.

Add grapple to pallet forks on a budget -- Precision Manufacturing vs Titan vs ???

I have done this in the past, but I'm normally grabbing a pile that is wider than the tractor, so need to drag back and shake a bite-sized chunk free of the pile. The tree canopy is low enough that I can't just lift the chunk up far enough for the other stuff to fall away.

Add grapple to pallet forks on a budget -- Precision Manufacturing vs Titan vs ???

I do not think that I would use these all that often, the main purpose for now would be hauling brush to a burn pile. I was looking at the Precision Manufacturing product (their adjustable version is over 10 weeks out and about $1500 + shipping). Titan has a similar product, in stock, for...

    TTWT, EPA, and Tractor Purchase

I also hear many more regen horror stories from foks in northern climates. What works at +80 in Alabama might not work as well at -20 in BF South Dakota.

Maybe, but their roads are 100 years behind.

Only Back wheels spin on 4WD kubota?

I taught my kids to use 2wd to get stuck, then 4wd to get unstuck. My dad was more of a 4wd if snow is even in the forecast.

    Tractor Warm Up Question

Trips kinda stop being fun once you have to stop and scrape the inside of the windshield

New Kubota L series models available this year

Yeah, I guess I'd rather learn to use the right foot than learn to do it all w/ the left.

New Kubota L series models available this year

I like the walking brakes, the one thing I miss from my older tractors (my Kubota has them, but right next to the HST pedal. Since I only have one right foot they are not too useful over there.)

    Securing extra hydraulic hose

My JD 3020 had them in '64. By the time I bought it in '06, not so much.

    PTO Tiller ?

I also got the King Kutter tiller. I'm happy with it, but have nothing to compare it to.

    Tractor Cool Down Question

Responding just to say I like the leaf blower idea. Also, all of my other tractors had nice analog guages, so I could tell when it had "cooled down". The Kubota has a little bar-graph LCD display, that will stay at 4 bars all day long, so you never know if it's "cooled down" or not. I'm...

    Tractor Warm Up Question

My concern with that chart is that it doesn't go far enough. Do I need 10 more minutes at -14 and 5 more at -20 F? Or is 30 minutes good for any temp below -4 F?
