    Tractor(s?) for Vermont

Tell me about it. I use an open station tractor to move snow here in South Dakota. A cab would be sweet in the winter time for sure. If you decide to go with two seperate units then the big one can't be "too big".

    Tractor(s?) for Vermont

The 6060 w/ cab wouldn't be a good choice in the woods. Were you planning on taking the tractor in there?

    HST vs Shuttle Shift

I'm a recent convert to the church of the HST. Given your listed uses, gear drive is probably fine (I've never owned a shuttle-shift). The HST really excels at fine control (e.g. backing the snowblower right up to the barn when clearing the yard). It also excels when you want to keep the PTO...

Looks like my block heater crapped the bed…

I've done that twice this year (this winter, not since the weekend!). My previous two tractors had the heater on the left and I never forgot. This one is underneath on the right and can't be seen from the seat. I started draping a bright yellow extension cord over the hood when I plug it in...

Whats the coldest temps outside you will run your Kubota?

I’ve had to use mine @ -20 F a couple of times. It sleeps in an un-heated, un-insulated outbuilding that is typically 10 degrees warmer than outside. I do use a block heater. I covered a good part of the radiator on my previous tractors, but was warned to not do that with my turbocharged Kubota.

    Cold Weather Starting

Do you run #2 diesel at those temps? I run #1 and Stanadyne. I put some #2 in pickle jars with different amounts of Power Service winter/white bottle and they were all as cloudy as straight #2 at around +5 F. I assume Stanadyne is better, but have never tested.

    Pallet forks

I own the set on the right. Mine are black, but I did get them from Titan. I like them, and have had no issues. They are made in the US, and the welds look good. I have bought other other (non-US made) stuff from Titan and the quality is hit-or-miss (more miss, but the customer service made it...

    Next price increase from Kubota?

I’m on the Minnesota border. For a big purchase such a tractor it’s worth having them deliver. They then sold it to me in South Dakota and I pay at my (4%) tax rate instead of whatever MN charges. More than pays for the delivery In my case and may be worth checking out.

    Next price increase from Kubota?

I agree with everything you said, but have no experience with a B series. I do wish I'd bought a more reliable tractor 20 years ago. I loved working on my 60's era iron, but was never sure I could just use one without a little wrenching first.

Attachment Storage Question - Pallet Racking

I get used pallets from a tool & die company. Some of their steel comes in on pallets that are constructed of 2x6 cross pieces on 4x4s running perpendicular (so, like a regular pallet but much beefier). I'd see if you can get some of those for the hauling. Downside is I have to compete with...

Snowblower on Gravel - Skid shoe question

The HST will make a huge difference. HST let's me run an IH-80 (7-ft?) that my much bigger Deere struggled with. When I was shopping I was told the top auger was free (hp-wise) until the snow got that deep. Basically serves as a flywheel. Where I live it freezes up and stays froze, so I let...

Cold starts: what is your preferred RPM setting??

I noticed that. I was getting ready to ask for the bottom half of the chart. The chart for warming up the HST is similar. It bottoms out around 1/2 hour but way above my typical temps. That's about what I do, summer or winter. I'll try to start at idle when it's warm again. I've still got...

How crazy are you about topping off your tank?

I thought the tank on my tractor was vented? I'm not a diesel guy, but if it isn't it would be the first vehicle I ever owned that did not have a vented fuel tank.

    Proper Ballast Recommendations

Which is accomplished by "transferring forces from the front to the rear axle." But, as anybody who grew up before teeter-totters were banned can tell you, the same amount of weight placed further behind the rear axle, would do an even better (exellenter?) job of this My rear axle appears to...

How crazy are you about topping off your tank?

My fuel tanks are vented. My fuel cans are not. Wet outside air can enter the tank when warm and drop moisture as it cools. The fuel cans not so much. They do squeeze down as it cools, and if I were to vent them on a warm, moist, day they would get water inside. I don't, so they don't.

How crazy are you about topping off your tank?

I normally wait until I can squeeze 5 gallons in. Last night I dumped in 3 gallons (of #1) since there's still some #2 in there and we're expecting a cool-down later this week. I'm pretty OCD about topping off my gas vehicles well above half a tank. I think the "refuel at 1/4 tank" is a...

    King Kutter Professional tiller

I have a King Kutter (not sure if it's "professional" or not). It does a fine job and has never given me any problems but I've only had it for about 3 years? Use it once or twice a year. I did use a middle-buster the first year to rut things up first.

    New L4060 LE add-ons

You'll be surprised at how useful the pallet forks will be. Depending on how much snow you get all at once, and how windy it is, you will probably want a blower. Used 3-pt blowers aren't insanely expensive, especially if you live in a snowy region. If you're over by the lake you want a...

    Lift Arms

When I got my Kubota one side was bent. I was able to pound it out straight, but I could see why a guy might have to replace one.

Did you buy it new? Maybe somebody drilled a few more to run a Cat-0 implement?
