    Why not get another I beam and run your (rough sawn) decking perpendicular to the I beams? You could run a few decking boards longitudinally the width of your tractor tires for more strength and to spread the load.

    I agree with checking the ground. It sounds counterintuitive with a new battery, but you might try jumping it. If that doesn't work, relays, safety switches, solenoid (if it has one)?

    That is a sound solution, or you could weld the current "coupler" solid to make it a traditional pin on hitch, and use a twisted clevis. It's your money
