    Show me your Refueling Setup

Back in the late 70's I had a 300 gallon gas tank mounted on a steel frame near the barn, local ag supply would fill it on request with cash payment about 10-20 cent saving if I recall. It was real convenient until someone broke the lock and stole about 100 gallons then a short time later some...

swivel ball on three point frozen

A little heat on surrounding area and ball from a Mapp Gas or Oxy/Act torch along with the previously stated soaking and a good stout pry bar or good raps with a brass hammer. No need to make it red hot, just warm enough to help break the rust. Then keep them oiled liberally.

    Block Heater Question

For what it's worth, my L3901 has a block heater and my dealerships service department cautioned me on just plugging it in and leaving on indefinitely. He said he has serviced a few tractors where the solder in the heater had melted creating a coolant leak. His theory was the heater was...

Found this on the side of the road

A case of beer when I chased off the neighborhood kids throwing snow balls at the traffic going by from the cemetery across the road. Stihl farm boss chain saw, still had all the paint on the bar and no wood chips, multiple ratchet straps, chain binders and bungee cords. A few spare tires...

    Trailer tips-driving, loading, and unloading

Many years ago, pre cell phone, I was following a friend towing a 20 foot travel trailer on I89 in New Hampshire. Every time he got to 65 miles per hour his trailer would start to fishtail. I was able to pass him and get him to pull over. He was white knuckled but determined to make our Maine...

    FEL Hydro leak

Use two wrenches, one to hold the flats on the compression end of the hose fitting to stop the hose from twisting and the other on the flats of the JIC swivel. You do not want to put a twist in the hose, it creates undue stress on the hose wire braid and will lead to premature hose failure.

    loader hyd couplings

I fully understand the why, but prefer a rag with a wood or brass dowel and a good rap with a hammer or press the quick connect fitting up against a solid object if possible to release the pressure, below is my reasoning and experience. I know it may be a bit long winded but in my experience...

    Help log skidding

A log skidding horror story, many years ago my brother in laws father owned I believe the first Kubota Dealership in Vermont circa early to mid-70’s. Not long after this ownership started the service work also began to come in. I went with my brother in law and on a service call into the...

Snow plow quick attach mount plate question?

I have a push bar with pins from a Fisher Snow Plow frame I removed from a rusted out 1965 Scout. I am thinking of attaching it to a Titan 3/8" attachment mount plate to be purchased. The Snow Plow is a 7 foot Fisher also from the Scout. My reasoning for the thicker plate is the rigidity it...

    Fuel Additive

Here in the central Vermont we start purchasing winter mixed fuel in early November, I have been told by my dealer that is generally good to approx. Zero degrees +/-, so I also add Power Service. How far South do you need to go before winter mix is no longer available I do not know. I have...

    Turfs are useless to me

I agree Turf do not work well in Mud, in my experience the loaded Turfs on my old B7100 4 x 4 pushing snow with a back blade, never had an issue with the tires loading up in wet or dry snow or issues with poor traction for the 12 years I had it. The only issue I had was lack of weight and power...

    Camper pics

Many years ago we used to backpack the Long & Appalachian trail and as we started a family we got softer and upgraded, first to a 19' TT then a 27' TT, when the kids were gone we went to a 33' TT with a slide out. Now that the kids and grand children are grown, this is the latest RV, now 7 yrs...

    Lesson learned the hard way

For all owners of L3901 or similar tractors with a BH mount, a note of CAUTION. When hooking up a brush hog or other 3-Point hitch implements watch the routing of your return hydraulic hose. I notice the first time I attached a 3-p implement the potential for hydraulic hose damage due to the...

$3600.00 is what I just sold my 1996, B7100 4x4 HST with Kubota FEL, worn turf tires, mid PTO, well used tractor, bucket had been reinforced and re-welded, some body dents and faded paint, it also had 1760 hrs. I was 3rd owner. The dealer offered me 4k in trade for a L3901 with FEL and BH. The...

    L3901 and L3301

I had the dealer give me all the parts they removed from my tractor during the set up, cross bar, hoe pins, and the FEL control knob, you never know when you might want the parts and I paid for them. That said, I just checked my tractor and their is no way you can leave the bar installed and use...

Help please! Can't get hydraulics from FEL reattached

As previously stated make sure you cover the fitting with a suitable rag to contain the oil spray. Safety googles and leather gloves would also be advisable, there could be considerable pressure built up. DO NOT use a steal punch or screwdriver. My preferred punch would be a hardwood dowel or...
