    Fire extinguisher.

As a person who has had to actually use a fire extinguisher on multiple occasions…I can only suggest that folks buy good quality (not plastic crap and nozzles) that are 10lbs or more. Also, there are compounds you can get that will not ruin your electronics if discharged.

    Brake carnage!!

I have one of the Motive bleeders and use it for three vehicles. One trick is to buy the appropriate reservoir cap they make for the various vehicles. Don’t put any fluid in the Motive…just pressurized air…that way you don’t waste any fluid…and the fluids used can vary and you don’t need to...

The Lottery - Anyone hit it?

When we were younger, in our twenties, my mother in law would buy 5 scratchers for stocking stuffers for all the children and their significant others. One of mine actually hit for 600 bucks…paid the rent with it…

    My first tractor…?

I am CA as well. When I finally decided to get a Kubota…one of the dealers (Dolk Tractors) mentioned getting a “harvest return”. Here in CA the various manufactures flood the market with equipment in the fall for the various crops. I got a 135 hour L2800 for HALF of new. Since it was with an...

Towing with a Weight Distribution Hitch

Get a tongue scale and follow the set up instruction carefully. The rig should be level and enough weight on the front steering axle is part of the set up. You may want to move the tractor forward/backwards in the trailer to figure out a good place for it when setting up the hitch. I see more...

How much do you trust you kids?

Henro….good comments…all of them. I owned a company with over 100 employees and learned decades ago that a good attorney (especially to specific tasks like estate planning) and a good tax attorney are worth every penny I pay them…multiple times over. We started this plan BEFORE the boys were...

How much do you trust you kids?

To answer the question…totally. wifey and I own nothing…the kids are loaded via a trust. We technically have 50k and everything else is theirs via a Trust that they are the beneficiaries of. They are both in their 20s and know that they will be very well set when we pass and how our wishes...

TSA and the art of misinformation.

Same as when they have drug dogs visibly posted to catch the bad guys using airports to smuggle. They do that all the time at San Diego. They have a job and they like to brag. Since they have a failure rate over 90% they gotta claim victory where they can

Fixing hole in side of block

Been watching this thread from the get go. Love the hard work and effort of OP. My only suggestion to OP would be to go on Welding Web and post this repair with questions about how to do it. I would also ask those guys if one of them is nearby and could help out or do it. Much like this...

    What to get the wife?

Years ago I figured out that if wifey wanted something…to figure out a tool that must be bought to implement/make it. On anniversaries she has gotten a tablesaw, planner, pick up truck and yeppers…a tractor. All about the approach OP…and balls helps too.

What ROPS toolbox are you using?

I Made a custom basket that holds chain, gloves and stuff. The rack is welded to that.

    How sketchy is it?

I would chain it not strap. 4 points, two in front on the frame and 2 in back to something strong. Drive mellow and think about the load.

National Park Service 4WD Only Trails. No AWD Allowed.

This reminds me of all the weekend warriors out here in AWD mini vans and similar. When it snows they mostly think that because they have all 4 wheels working they can drive like it is 72 and sunny out. Almost all of the spin outs are Tesla, mini vans and Subarus…flatlanders who think they...

    L2800

I have had an L2800 for 15 years…great tractor. Non HST model. Can anyone explain why a double clutch would be desirable? Thanks.

Do anything when you were young that amazes you now?

I quit drinking 19 years ago. There are times when I am reflecting on a great life that I am sorta amazed I was never arrested, maimed, hurt too bad or hurt anybody else and had some heart pounding moments that are funny now….but….many of those same memories remind me of WHY I quit drinking...

    I think I overpaid

OP…enjoy your tractor. You got what you wanted and made a decision that works for you….enough said. Now, as far as that neighbor is concerned…I would politely and firmly let him know when he comes to borrow it, have you help him or anything else he wants from you…that you are sorry but have...

    Old ammunition

Shoot it, lube the gun, shoot more of it… I wonder if there is a high school team or shooting club that may want it to reload or actually dispose of it by shooting it all…
