Buying a dump trailer- how to protect the bed from manure?

I was thinking of this the other day and I was curious if you could neutralize the manure with some lime? That's a nice trailer hodge! I've been looking for a 14' regular without the goose neck. Is the rear gate only 2 way barn style with the spreader, or is it 3 way?

Buying a dump trailer- how to protect the bed from manure?

I never thought manure was that corrosive to steel, but then again I'm not a farmer. I can understand wanting to take care of your equipment so it lasts, I'm looking for a dump trailer myself.

Buying a dump trailer- how to protect the bed from manure?

Hodge, have you looked into any financial assistance from the state or Fed level? Why I ask is because I know of a farm local to me in the same predicament. Basically they told whoever who wanted them to build a structure to house the manure that doing so would put them out of business...

Removing both FEL and Box Blade while in Garage?

Put them on mover's dollies, they are pretty inexpensive from harbor freight and northern tool. You may need 3 of them for the FEL, they are made of wood so it's pretty easy to modify them to your needs...

How many of you use steering wheel spinners on your tractor(s)?

I've always heard of them being called suicide knobs. I have one on the 7100 which is handy but I don't see the point in having one on something with power steering.

    Radiator leak ... JB Weld?

You need a brass screw. Clean the surface with Emory cloth and wipe it clean with rubbing alcohol to get rid of the antifreeze residue, clean the screw with rubbing alcohol to remove any oil. Flux the surface around the hole as well as the screw. Put screw in hole and point flame (or hold...

    Stained Concrete?

I've seen it done but be cautious of what chemicals are in the stain, make sure it's indoor friendly. I've also seen it polished to where you see the aggregate and it also looks good. I'm not a fan of painting concrete with anything DIY because if it starts peeling or something you'll never...

Mid Mount Mower or 3 pt? B2150

A 3pt mower would be a hell of a lot easier to mount/dismount than a MMM. If you have a hard surface like a garage floor or paved driveway using low profile dollies like ones for a snowmobile make moving the MMM in place a lot easier. Hooking up the PTO shaft is down right a pain in the ass...

    Tractor won't start, PTO issues?

I don't know for sure but possibly is there a seat safety switch on your tractor? I know I've read many times of those causing issue. Or could be a clutch safety switch.

    Investment ideas

Berries are another option to veggies. Raspberries, black raspberries, and black berries will spread to give you more plants. You could even setup a pick your own operation which a lot of people love to do, and it lessens the labor of picking. The best part about them is they ripen at...

Lock and Load retaining wall system

I've never seen that before, it doesn't seem like there is that much actual structural material holding back the earth. If it was me I would go for a Versa Lok retaining wall. When installed properly with GEO grid it will hold back some serious amount of earth. I've seen walls as high as...

    Declared war today!!! On bugs!!!

I hate ticks more than anyone but I have too much area, some being too overgrown to walk through, to treat. I had an offer one time for some kind of organic garlic remedy but again it was expensive and required reapplication. On the other hand I'm not a fan of insecticides, especially if they...

7100 wheel and tire turf please!

There seems to be someone always looking to go from turf to AG tires on a 7100, you may be able to find someone to do an even swap to get the correct rims. I have load star trailer tires that have a turf style tread on the fronts and Carlisle Multi Trac turfs on the rear of my 7100, both are 10 ply.

Rubber tire chains for dirt work

Your turf tires will be fine working on dry dirt, even on hard packed ground they work great. Get them loaded like wolfman said if they aren't already, it makes a huge difference all around.

    integrity in the service department

Some new cars don't come with a spare tire. I know a guy with a new Cadillac who got a flat, went to change the tire to find only a can of fix a flat. He was dumbfounded considering what he paid for it :p

Risks of operating tractor from a standing position?

I'm with skeets on this, you should be seated and buckled up while operating. Picture yourself standing up, hit a bump, your right foot lands on the reverse pedal, and now your ass over tea kettle . It takes time and experience to get a feel for your tractor, pretty soon you will know...

    integrity in the service department

My wife's outback typically needs the cabin air filter changed every 15k miles. The dealer charges like $30 to do it so let them do it. I just had brake pads put her car and called around to a few shops, one being strictly a Subaru repair shop. The dealer ended up being $200 cheaper than all...
