    Crankshaft help

Design change based on SN of engine/tractor. If you spun the bearings the main bores in the block and or rod big ends will likely need to be resized as well. Have you had a good crank shop look at the original crank to be sure that it can't just be ground undersize??

    m5500 locked

I don't believe the D3000-A motor in the M5500 has a freeze plug into the water jacket in the bell housing. A soft plug that covers the camshaft bore - yes. Freeze plug into the water jacket? Don't think so. If you remove the throw-out bearing greasing/inspection plate you should be able to see...

    m5500 locked

Does motor turn with wrench at all (even just a little) or is it stuck tight? Yes turns a little - tranny stuck in two gears? No stuck tight - somehow water probably got in cyl and stuck the rings. Any water in oil pan? Pull plug to check, water will come out first. Exhaust uncovered? No...

    Food plot No Til Drill

Check with your local soil conservation district. We rent out 3 of them here. $10 an acre. Doesn't pay to own one for small acreages when you can just rent it. 2 of ours are 10 ft JD. I pull them behind my M4500 but wouldn't want to send an inexperienced operator out on much more than gently...

    Hay fields

So a precip forecast for anything beyond 2 weeks is a crap shoot. Therefore right now I'm planning on "average". Enough warm weather in Central Ohio last week to begin to green-up the wheat and rye. A spot we mowed tight with a rotary mower two weeks ago at the office for a small pollinator...

    Gun laws 101?

Remember.... this is a "just the facts" thread to avoid conflicts in opinion. Really be interested in in the regs. the outside of North America members have to deal with if they ever check in. FWIW, the CCW process in Ohio is pretty simple. The mandatory class requirements are as much about...

    crazy weather today!!

Buckeye Chuck wasn't any better, still 6 weeks to spring from GH Day. I say we shoot and stuff both the furry little rodents and forecast spring on our own!

    Gun laws 101?

Interesting. We do have the mag limits for Ohio for the hunting arms. But I believe those are Division of Wildlife regulations and not "gun laws" per say.

    Gun laws 101?

Lest I get scolded for this being political NO OPINIONS PLEASE, just the facts. The AR thread and all the press got me wondering. What 's legal/allowed in your state province/country??? I know we've got several countries represented on the forum. Just curious what the case really is where you...

    Best use for dishwasher!

So I'm redoing the plastic body work on a Cub 1864. The grill especially was in bad shape and took a lot of filling and patching. Of course prior to applying the adhesion promoter and primer to the plastic it has to be really clean. Wouldn't you know it's a perfect fit in the wife's...

    Balls of Steel

If you have a neighbor with a Farmall tractor with the early disc brakes you can give'em to them to keep on the parts shelf. They'll eventually need them. They used balls that size in the eccentrics for the brake plates.

Longer 3 pt hitch lower arms

TSC or similar farm stores usually have generic replacements for 8N/Ford-Ferguson & the like for around $60 each. They'll be a lot longer than what you have and would likely need a hole drilled for your lift link. As noted, it's going to reduce the lift capacity, may even make it way light in...

    Bad Vibes!

Something I've never had happen before on the way home from the office tonight. Terrible vibration at 40-55 mph. Really bad, felt like wheel coming off type bad, but no noise! Only 5 miles home so just slowed down and kept going. Turns out it was ice frozen to the inside of the rim. We've had...

Plastic gear oil cap fell into the gearbox!

I've done that one! (shop vac) Doesn't work too bad but doesn't hold on as well as you expect. The parts diagram shows a drain (of the same size?) in the bottom of the box aside from the front fill port. Get some fuel oil, kerosene or mineral spirits and a little hose to hook up to the container...

    Help with 3-point hitch repair

If I had $10 for every tractor that the 3 point arms leak down on over night I could pay back everybody that lost $ in the stock market the last two weekdays. Is it really that big of a problem? It might not be the cylinder, could be control valve, the safety/bypass valve, or (less likely)...

Plastic gear oil cap fell into the gearbox!

I hate it when that happens! Last time did something like that used one of those little spring loaded retriever tools. You know, 12-18 inches long, looks like a chunk of the throttle cable off your old lawn mower, has a push the button on one end and three little grabber fingers pop out the...

    Harbor Freight

Some stuff pretty good some other not so much but usually "serviceable". 12 ton press - good, air compressor - not bad, flux core welder - just fair, full size angle grinder - don't bother, bench grinders - ok if you get an 8 inch and put 6 inch wheels on it, oscillating/vibrating type saw tool...

    Pellet stoves

I have pretty good luck crossing part numbers for our Traeger/Earth Stove and getting blowers and motors from Grainger or other similar on-line suppliers. Usually at a considerable savings. Just replaced the auger gear motor (21 years, although I've done some work to nurse it along over the...
