What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

It's really easy (after a little lot of practice) The gin pole (a 14' long, 2" od, 1/4" wall aluminum tube with a welded on pulley at one end) is clamped to a tower leg as high as possible on the last installed section. The 1st section was installed 3-1/2' into the ground in a concrete block...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Well, I dragged out this project as long as I could :) Today My son Jed and I put up the 6th and final section of the new tower. He did all the work. I was on the tractor and he was on the tower. Pretty uneventful - just what I like in tower erections. Pulling up the 6th section: section...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Yesterday my son climbed the tower and i was on the tractor pulling up the 6th and final section. All went really well until we realized I had attached the pull rope too high on that section and he wasn't able to maneuver it over the previous one and bolt it up :( Ended up dropping it back to...

    Looking for some "machine advice"

I was gifted a large air compressor at the old house. It came with a 7-1/2hp 3ph motor. It was easier for me to fine a single phase motor to convert it. I am not familiar with the machines you are looking at but if there is only a single 3ph motor, it might be easier to just convert the motor

    Some small amount of justice

for these people. . . . Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones ' Infowars media platform and its assets will be sold off piece by piece in auctions this fall to help pay the more than $1 billion he owes relatives of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, under an order expected to be...

    Winter Prep Already?!?!

My winter prep started here also. We loaded my 55 gallon drum / diesel tank onto my son's pickup & filled it at the local gas station ($3.29 / gal). Added some Sta-Bil and Opti-Lube to it all. Should be enough fuel until next spring. I have it stored on a rolling drum dolly. Used the forks to...

Awesome dogs / Crazy pets Thread

Our two labs are getting there - 11 and 12 (or maybe 12 and 13, tough to know with rescues). We only had 'real' pups once. That housebreaking experience cured us. Since then they all come to us housebroken. The rescue groups we've dealt with have all been very good about representing the dogs'...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I spent some time yesterday cleaning out the area where I need to install a French drain. On the town's topo map it shows a tributary for a nearby river starting right here. The area is muddy most of the year and the dogs apparently love to go there. It's a swale dropping about 4 feet before it...

Attn. HVAC pros..........Is someone "blowing sunshine up my skirt"?

Fwiw ACR tubing is the most used type around here for residential work. Mostly sold in coils. It is cleaned and capped. Copper fittings - generally plumbing fittings and tubing are'nominal' size. A 3/4 piece of copper tube would measure 7/8. ACR tubing is usually measured at its OD. ACR...

    New man lift

Nice Job Smokeydog! A little too big for my lil tractor :) I like the idea for fabbing up tool holders. It is mostly going to be used for chainsaw work and (the issue that pushed me over the edge) hanging windchimes in the trees. Also plan on putting up a few bat houses. Where we are situated...

    New man lift

I finally gave in and bought a man lift cage. I decided on the YINTATECH Forklift Safety Cage listed on Amazon. It's one step up from the real cheapies. I looked at one of the less expensive Chinese units and just couldn't do it. Of course this one is Chinese also, It arrived today, packed...

    Daily Chuckle

That is just so disingenuous. Certain factions have been claiming that 'illegal Haitian immigrants' have been eating family pets. The truth turns out to be something completely different. ONE mentally ill American killed and ate one cat. Hardly the fear mongering being spread.

2 questions - anti galling compound for SS and winch ??'s

My initial uses would be for putting some 'pull' on trees that I want to take down and be sure they fall in the right direction. I also have some use for a winch in my tower project - raising and lowering items to the top of the tower. A winch would be a lot more convenient than moving the tractor.
