    Backhoe Owners poll.......

Renting a machine with a backhoe, or even better, a mini excavator, is always an option, but that means that you have to plan ahead and make sure you finish the job within the rental period. I often have a few projects which I work on a little at a time when I have spare time, and when I feel...

    L or LX

I believe that the LX4020, and the rest of the 20 series, are still new and have not been built and distributed in large quantities yet. That is why you don't see a lot of them on the dealer's lot.

    Backhoe Owners poll.......

I have a BH77 on my LX2610. I use it often and it does what I need it to do. That said, I almost decided to spend the money on a mini-excavator instead. I could dig a lot faster and move the material further from the machine. Of course that would be a lot more money than an add-on backhoe. I...

    Who's trading for a LX 20 series?

Aside from the increased horsepower I don't see any real improvements. I suppose the lower noise level might be an incentive for some people, but I don't have a cab and I don't mind wearing hearing protection if anything sounds too loud.

Handling Oak Trees without a Grapple

Like NCL4701, I have a grapple, but I prefer to use a cant hook unless I am moving the log any distance before cutting it. However, rolling logs down off of the log pile is probably the second most dangerous part of cutting firewood, the first most dangerous being felling the trees. My cant...

    Ethical Purchase

If price is a priority for you then let the first dealer know that you have been shopping other dealers and price is an important factor. Otherwise, I would decide based on which place felt right to me. Call it intition of you like, but when I shop for even lower cost items I usually get a feel...

Considering trading in an lx2610 on an L series

If you have the money and don't mind the heavier machine leaving tracks in your lawn then bigger is better. I have an LX2610 SU and I work it as hard as it is capable of working. I have never broken anything. I have an BH77 backhoe with a substantial sub-frame so that may be making the...

    Propane for Generac

I use propane for cooking, not for a generator, so I don't know if this will work for you, but when my propane supplier started adding fees to my deliveries because of the small amount I used I had them take their tank and bought several 100 lb tanks. Propane weighs about 4 lb per gallon, so at...

    What’s the purpose of life?

Happiness. We all look for it in different places. Some of us find it, some don't.

    BH77 to LX2610

I have a LX2610 SU ROPS with the BH77. Mine is a couple of years old and there have been no problems. I work the backhoe, and everything else, pretty hard. I wonder what the updated part is for.

    Any Kayaker for opinion

I am in Ulster county. My wife and I have a couple of kayaks and like to paddle mostly on flat water. I recommend a sit inside kayak rather than a sit on top one for comfort and stability. Also, the ones which are molded in a single piece are sturdier than the ones which are made from two...

    Daily Chuckle

We call that the 'Harvard comma'. I like to use one there, but I don't think it is required.

Which Root rake grapples are the toughest?

I have a Land Pride SGC1060 on my LX2610 and i is plenty rugged for my smaller tractor. I think the 15 series would be better for your tractor, but they weight considerably more than 550 lbs.

    Foot pedal controlled 3rd function

I like the idea of a non-electrical control for the 3rd function. I would prefer a hand lever rather than a foot control, but if the foot control would allow you to control the 3rd function while simultaneously controlling the FEL functions then that is an advantage. I have an electrically...

    Coupling for grapple not connecting

Be careful when using tools to increase your leverage or strength. It is easy to break something if you are not aware of how the coupling is supposed to work. I'm not saying that you should not use them, just be prudent.

    Price when you were born.

The year I was born gasoline cost 28 cents a gallon. That's funny, because 17 years later, when I started to buy gas, it was 28 cents a gallon at the cheap discount station. The other stations were only a few pennies more.

    Daily Chuckle

I had an axle nut come off on my VW Super Beetle many years ago. The wheel came off with the brake drum attached. Fortunately the car was balanced well enough that I was able to keep three tires on the road as I pulled over. I called my brother to bring me some tools, put the wheel back on, and...

    "Autobody" repair and maintenance?

Just the opposite for me. I clean and lubricate the places that need grease or oil, but that's about it. The rain does a good job of washing off the dirt. If I had any places where the paint is missing such that the sheet metal would rust I would prime and paint that.

    Best way to collect gravel?

As you can see from the responses you have received, there is no easy way to collect and reuse gravel from a driveway and how you do it and what tool is best for the job depends on the specific circumstances. Your idea of scooping it up with the FEL and using the box blade if the gravel is not...

    LX2610 front loader issue

I was doing that when I first got my LX2610. The dealer had installed the buttons for the 3rd function facing out and I had a hard time holding the lever without pressing one of the buttons. I rotated the switches 180 so they are facing in towards the operator and the problem went away.
