    Dumb 4WD Question

4WD only when needed, 2WD most of the time.

I do have hills but where I mow is flat for WV, I guess rolling is a better description, and with 2" spacers it's very stable. Much more so than the B2650 I had prior. However with only 25hp I specifically chose to not add liquid to the tires which is unnecessary with an implement on the back...

Limited to 1000 characters so I'm having to divide my two paragraphs into 3 or 4 replies. One time when I got in really tall thick grass and weeds and didn't slow down to a crawl like I should have, I heard a squeal which was from the three belts so I immediately stopped to let the mower catch...

Greetings Mark, I find the combination of L2501HST and Woodmaxx 62 works well for me. I think the fact that (vs gear) an L2501 HST puts out a little less hp to the pto is more than offset by the infinite speed HST provides. I typically mow in low range since I'm going so slow anyway. In thinner...

    Analysis Paralysis.....Need Help

Yes I would suggest starting w/o filled tires which'll probably be just fine unless you're on pretty steep hills. If you decide you want more stability (which living here in WV I did on my L2501) add 2" rear spacers. For no more money (than tire liquid) they'll give you more stability without...

    Analysis Paralysis.....Need Help

    I would choose between a B2601 and LX2610.

    Buck wheat

Probably not as he's in southern PA. I'm in Preston County, WV right on the PA line and Preston's county seat (Kingwood) hosts the Buckwheat Festival every Fall. Anyone who hasn't tasted good old, slightly sour, buckwheat cakes with maple syrup doesn't know what they're missing!

    Is the BX1880 enough

Yes a Scag, or the Ferris I mow with. The larger Ferris mowers weigh over 1,700 pounds.

    Is the BX1880 enough

I'm not so sure spinning around on a 1,300 pound ZTR is going to be much easier on a lawn than a BX.

Locust Thorns - Threat to tires?

One of those times when you're glad you didn't fill your tires with liquid.

    B2601, recommended options?

For mowing I would start with the 60" mmm. Unlike lawn tractor a B can cut pretty high and through high grass and weeds. My first Kubota (small B) was all I had and I used it to mow my yard, as well the meadow three times a year which it did without any problem. And it looked a lot nicer cut...

I think it's time to upgrade the B2650

Probably or an MX. L3901 and B2650 have almost the same lift capacity.

Why <1% Moly spec for Kubota recommended grease?

LOL so that was the reason! Interesting info from Nitroonline. I have two grease guns one with Kubota grease which has Moly and the other which has synthetic grease but w/o moly. I've used only the Kubota moly grease on my tractor which is ok but I think I've used it on my Ferris ZTR, including...

Why <1% Moly spec for Kubota recommended grease?

I recall when Harley Davidson advised not to use synthetic oil in their engines because it was so slippery it caused "bearing skate" bearings would slide rather than roll. Of course after HD finally started marketing synthetic oil themself it was ok.....

Why <1% Moly spec for Kubota recommended grease?

What grease zerks on our Kubota's supply grease to ball or roller bearings anyway?

    B2401DT

Both could be in order if you always want the extra weight. Some instances you might not could be when mowing and you don't want to compact your lawn you could simply remove the loader and ballast box. Removing wheel weights may be a little more involved. Or if you have a big rear mower or...

    B2401DT

Definitely more effective. Actually the rear axle is robust it's the small front axle when using the FEL one needs to be concerned about. Picture lifting the bucket filled with stone, the rear wheels may actually leave the ground or have so little weight on them they spin. The entire weight...

Why <1% Moly spec for Kubota recommended grease?

Interesting, maybe a good question to Email Kubota why their own grease doesn't meet their spec?

    Turning a tractor over

I see and I noticed the JD didn't have a draw bar. You exercised due caution and it worked easily enough for you.
