First thing I'd check is the tightness of the battery cables, then the battery. If it turns out to be a starter, it's WAY cheaper to get it rebuilt. I had hundreds of them rebuilt when I was a diesel mechanic in the military for $40-$100 depending on the application.

This is way beyond what I learned as a diesel mechanic in the Air Force, and I only have a 110v Mig Welder. This is an item I'd buy or commission a buddy to build with beer and pizza.

I have something similar to this on the tractor, I don't know any other way possible to tow with the 3PH without one, but what you describe is not my problem. Mine is when I lower the mower deck, the 3PH lowers as well, and my hitch ball drags on the ground.
