You have two filters. One engine and one before the pump.

When was the last time the fuel tank was cleaned out? I had another T1600 that had a lot of fungus in the tank blocking the pickup pump. Filters?

I turn mine over with no throttle then increase till it starts. The owners manual says to start at half throttle but it always seemed to start rough doing it like that so I start at 0 then increase to run. No smoking and smooth. I start all of my small kubotas the same now

Looked at a parts manual yet? I think the only thing you might be missing in your removal is a snap ring on the blade side of the spendle. Clean the dirt and grease good and see it there is one in the spendle at the lower portion of the shaft where the blade bolts too. Not sure if they all have...

Those lower pulleys bend and dent easier than one would thinks. The PTO shaft can take a pounding.

Also see that the lower pully can turn by hand with the belt removed. Twine and grass knots around the blades and spendles, low lube in the gear box, and dry bearings can cause too much drag. Do you still have the sticker on the pto side that shows correct adjustment of the spring tension? This...

I think it's like aircraft wiring diagrams (some very basic ones anyway). The symbols are grouping numbers like DC power, lighting, caution, etc. The 0.5 ones look like advisory lights or instrument sensors. Just my 2 cents.

One of my G4200s had a crushed spot in the return line and it didn't like running at and rpm over idle. It was completely pitched where a rock or limb hit it next to the frame and wasn't easy to find.

I use D&D on all mine. Works good X3.
