Can I Attach a Bolt-On Cutting Edge To This BX Series Bucket (Newbie Question)

When I bought my BX, the cutting edge was pretty well worn, so I bought a new one and a bolt on cutting edge too. I drilled holes in the new weld-on cutting edge to match those in the bolt-on edge, had the new weld-on edge installed and bolted up the other one. Had worked perfectly for a couple...

    SWAG 20T HD Finger Brake

I bought an Eastwood press brake, and did some modifications to it, I drilled and tapped the guide posts and countersunk the base plate for flathead bolts instead of having the studs and nuts on the bottom of the base plate. Made a pair of rails to hold the die in positions and attached them as...

Black diesel? (Not in a tractor)

For quite a few years when I was running a few trucks, I would pump the drain oil into the fuel tanks of the trucks. Neither CATs, Cummins or Detroits seemed to be affected by it. I always made sure there was enough fuel in the tanks so that it was at least a 10:1 dilution.

    What Government Mandates Save Lives?

Just a day ago, an 18 year old fellow ran off the Toll Road, went through a fence, went airborne, hit a tree and was ejected. As sad a tale as that is, fortunately his choice to not use a seat belt, drink and drive and use drugs won't be inherited by any children. When I was 18, I had a tire...

Picture your vehicles with the stickers.

When I bought my F150, I told the salesman that if it had a dealer sticker on it when I came to pick it up, the deal was off. He said it already had one on it, and I told him it better be off when I came to pick it up. He had al kinds of excuses for it being on the truck, and I asked if he...

    Great customer service from Dewalt

I have an older 9.6 volt Dewalt drill and the NiCad batteries only last a couple of years, so as an experiment I took the NiCads out of one of the cases and bought some odd size LiPos that let me fit six in the case in a 3S2P configuration. Added a charge controller and was able to get it to...

    Great customer service from Dewalt

Actually, I had a little extra time late last night and I took the extra 2AH battery I have apart, and the latch is the same as the 5AH batter.y. I pulled the 5AH battery apart and swapped the good latch onto the 5AH battery which I use most of the time and used some JB Weld to glue the broken...

    Great customer service from Dewalt

I bought a Dewalt 12 volt 3/8" impact a few months ago, and Saturday while I was working on my Nova it fell to the floor and broke the latch on the 5AH battery pack. I tried to fix it with epoxy, but it wouldn't adhere to the latch plastic. So this afternoon I tried to find a replacement latch...

Bolts To Studs On A BX Front Axle

When I was maintaining a fleet of trucks and construction equipment back in the 70s, we used Never-sieze by the case. Any threaded fasteners that were exposed to the outside environment and was removed for regular maintenance, were swabbed with Never-sieze before re-installation. On trucks with...

Bolts To Studs On A BX Front Axle

You'd have to disassemble the front knuckles to do that as there is no clearance to put them in from the rear.

Bolts To Studs On A BX Front Axle

The front tires on my BX seem to be magnets for anything that is sharp. In the five years I have had it, I think I've had six flat tires, the last one from a piece of random wire which I have no idea where it came from. And like I said, every time I had to take one of them off, profanity ensued.

Bolts To Studs On A BX Front Axle

Grade B7, 125,000 PSI according to McMaster-Carr. And I have no qualms that those four studs aren't strong enough to do the job.

Bolts To Studs On A BX Front Axle

Every time I have to remove and remount a tire/sheel on the front of my BX I curse them for using bolts instead of studs. So, I bought a 12" piece of 9/16" X18 threaded rod and lug nuts to replace them. I cut the rod into eight 1 1/2" long pieces and cleaned up the threads on the ends and made...
