    No way, no how...

While using my cutting torch I dropped a blob of molten steel onto one of my Sketcher shoes, which promptly melted through and onto one of my toes. Talk about the hot foot. Colorful language ensued.

What does the sticker on your vehicle say about you or what people may think about you

Feel free to use it liberally. ( Oops, that word will set off a firestorm of posts in short order.) By ignoring some posters, (1) I can read through the posts faster, without being distracted by content that I have no interest in, (2) I'm not lured into a protracted debate that serves no...

What does the sticker on your vehicle say about you or what people may think about you

Not that I've ever read. Of course I put him on ignore over a year ago so I don't have to see it. Nor do I miss his drivel.

How To Drive On Snow And Ice (1957)

I've never owned a 4WD vehicle, never will. If the roads are so bad you need 4WD, keep your ass at home, unless you're LEO, FD or first responder. If people did that, there would be a lot fewer deaths on the roads in the winter. But then, that's Darwin's Law at work, weeding out the fearless.

    New Air Compressor

When we had the family construction company, our shop was next door to a van conversion outfit (imagine that in Elkhart County, IN). One Sunday afternoon I dropped by the shop to check on something, and while I was inside, I head a loud noise, a boom, but not like an explosion, more muffled. I...

    BX22 Air Filter Housing Question

If you keep your engine RPMS above 1300-1400, the engine will vibrate a lot less and not break the brackets. Had that problem on my BX2230, welded up the OEM bracket, watched the RPMs and it has been good for the last three years.

What does the sticker on your vehicle say about you or what people may think about you

When I bought my F150, I told the salesman that if there was a dealer sticker on it when I came to pick it up, the deal was off. The only sticker on it is on the window of the cap, a Sheriff's Association sticker.

I sold this in July, got a little expensive for the few hours I flew it.

Are you enjoying the weather change?

When I had trucks running, I always deferred to the drivers on what was safe and legal to haul. If the driver thought it wasn't safe, but the shipper of broker said it was, we didn't haul it. Pissed some people off, but that's not our problem. We solved the problem of over weight loads, I had...

BX2750 Snowblower - shaft spins, chain doesn't move

I can see using a roll pin for retention when there is a key or spline that carries the torque load, but using a small piece of rolled spring steel for shaft/yoke/bearing retention and torque load, I repeat is a piss poor design. The gearbox on the MMM deck on my JD430 used a roll pin to retain...

BX2750 Snowblower - shaft spins, chain doesn't move

There's no way a roll pin should be used to transmit power. If that's factory installed it's a really piss poor design. Replace it with a grade 5 bolt and self locking nut.

    Gear heads

A couple of years ago I thought about replacing my '06 F150, but didn't feel like shelling out $40K+ for a standard cab F150, XLT trim, 5.0L V8, 2wd, 8 foot bed truck. I told three local Ford dealers I was interested in a used 2010 to 2017 model with those specs. All three said no such critter...

    best degreaser for small parts

Yep, I have a Skat Blast cabinet with #80 glass beads that is one of my most used pieces of equipment. Just Friday I blasted a 80s Schwinn 16" bicycle frame, chain guard and front fork that I'm restoring for a friend. A couple of other friends use it a lot too. Would be lost without it.

    Gear heads

2.7L is only 164 cu.in. That's pretty small motor to get 310hp and 430 ft. lbs. out of. I believe those have twin turbos, direct injection and other tricks to get that kind of power out of them. Unless that little gasser is built like a diesel, big bearings, stout block, beefy rods and forged...
