Advise for giving tractor a bath?

An interim stray grease remover is WD-40. Won't hurt the paint and it will remove all but the oldest and most nasty joint goop. It collects a little dust if left on thick but, if you spray on a load the night before you wash your tractor, you can get all the grease off the next day and the soap...

    L3800 oil change

Not wanting to open up a poo-fling here but.... Just my $.02 I always drain my oil on a cold engine. I changed it on warm engines for years, because I drove them to the auto hobby shop on base to change the oil. When I started doing much of my work at home, I changed the oil on an engine...

Only shifting when hot? And even then, laggy? L2900 GST

Don't know your tranny but... Could there be a gear selector valve that ports pressure from PARK (zero) to any gear that has frozen closed? Whatever powers the clutch engagement is not getting ported pressure. I.E. your transmission is stuck in zero. Back to the sidelines

Kubota Orange and Gray Paint: Best Quality and Match

Not to muddy the discussion but... The Kubota paint is excellent paint but, the rattle can delivery option is not so bueno. I re-painted my hood and got TONS of orange peel from the spray pattern. I needed a good paint and minimal fuss so it worked for me for the hood and roof. I also bought a...

    PTO won't disengage - L3200

One thought for you guys who spend hours slogging through either wet brush or deep brush that spatters all over your "innards..." Lubricating can also prevent build-up in the future, as well as help come cleaning time. I use WD-40 but dry silicone will work too. After you wash your tractor, dry...

    light duty root ripping

Northern used to have a single tooth for small tractors that would bolt on the bucket, like loader arms. I don't see it anymore online. Looked like a handy idea. It would focus the energy onto one small area which would give even small tractors more utility.

    King Kutter Tiller

Reportedly, the L3800 handles the 72" KingKutter II just fine. Mine came with it when I bought it and the previous owner got them with his tractor from the dealer. As you can see, rocks are hell on these things. This one had been used along a river which had tons of river rocks imbedded in the...

    loader with twins/matching motorcycle

Reminds me when my daughter was 11... I had an ancient FORD F1700 and would put thick carpet in the bucket and bounce her around like a carnival ride...up really jerky and down really fast. She loved it. She'd scream and laugh. One summer afternoon, we got cabin fever and decided to take the...

has anyone put a hand rail on right side

AWESOME! Even though it is now $53 through the dealer... Great improvement. Wanted one for awhile. Thought about using the holes for my radar detector but I'd much prefer the handle.:D

    L3800 and Snow Pusher

What is this "snow?":D (Its 111 outside here today. Yes.. we get snow most winters up here or, if not, pea-sized hail that looks like snow when it piles up. I left Chicago in '79 because of snow!) Isn't snow a thing of the past now that our diesels are causing global warming? Wasn't this the...

    Kubota Alternator/Volt Regulator

WARRANTY CLARIFICATION- After the dealer told me my second year warranty was drive train only, I called Kubota and they sent me a warranty for my tractor (sold 12-2012) and it clearly states: -24 MONTHS or 1500 HOURS, whichever occurs first (for everything) and POWERTRAIN 36 months or 2000...

    Kubota Alternator/Volt Regulator

Thanks again for the great suggestions! I decided to go for a spell without any battery trickle charging. I have left the tractor idling for at least five to ten after each start, to recover the battery. So far, it seems to run normally. Extra time on the Hobbs meter but, hey, its not hurting...

    Seat/Throttle/HST Interface

One more "newbie" issue I had cleared up while at the dealer... (File this one away in case it pops up.) My L3800 used to totally drive me crazy. I'd pull up and stop and the engine would quit. I could have idle or high revs or anything in between. Yet other times, with the same power setting...
