    Let it snow!

It's not backed up by "scientific method." Its backed up by "opinion" -the very last thing science depends upon for determination. Popular opinion had people burned at the stake for being witches. Thousand of concerned scientists are speaking out against this lunacy but the mainstream media...

50 Hour Oil Change--What Oil to Use?

I have mentioned this before but... On the airline ramp, there were cases of AeroShell 5wt turbine oil sitting around. Jets don't ever get oil changes. They burn a fair amount every hour so the oil never gets dirty. They just add oil regularly and track what they add in the logbook. Anyway...

Where Have All The Good Times Gone?

A guy on my posse went to college somewhere in the Midwest. He ALWAYS had a hunting rifle and a shotgun in his dorm closet because they used to hunt on the farms around the school. What has changed since then? Not the guns. Its society. We no longer value the stuff we used to and violence is...

Where Have All The Good Times Gone?

Without the shining example of America, Communism doesn't look quite as bad. I was flying on 9-11. Stuck in a hotel in Houston on 9-13, I was screaming at the top of my lungs when they announced you could no longer carry knives on planes. Great! They made planes "knife free zones!" I got a gun...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

At our old house the back yard was open to the desert. We'd get any and all animals in the yard. More than once I saw coyote pups stalk those rusty piggies. I also saw a young bobcat do the same. Another reason I want a plasma cutter. Any of you guy in PHX have one and want to upgrade to a...

50 Hour Oil Change--What Oil to Use?

I used to be a HUGE believer in Slick 50, which used PTFE resin as a means to Teflon coat your engine. My brother owned an import auto repair business in L.A. and one time I was visiting him and did an oil change and was adding Slick 50. One of his really smart, German mechanics came over and...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Finally done. Now we can rebuild it to suit our needs. Tiny bit of rip-rap rock along west wall that needs to come out for use in erosion areas elsewhere on property but, I'll get it next week.

50 Hour Oil Change--What Oil to Use?

The higher weights (15-40) will offer better protection at a slight cost in efficiency. If you use your tractor every day and run no longer between changes than recommended, straight mineral (regular) oil will be adequate. Synthetic will give you better start-up protection as it has better...

    2013 L3800 won't start!

One of the switches my 3800 had an issue with is the HST pedal switch. If it hasn't been lubed in awhile, it can stick slightly in FWD or REV and that will interrupt current to the starter. Rock that pedal and make sure its centered. If yours isn't an HST model, disregard! Good luck. Ray

    Steer/Axle lube

Just another plug for the Lincoln 1162 air-powered zerk. So far, the thing has worked flawlessly. $70 on Amazon. Combined with one of those nifty Lock N Lube couplers, it doesn't get any easier or cleaner. Easy to control the feed. One trigger pull is a small amount of grease. Built like a Mack...

    coffee on my screen

D2, Gangs, --or the military. Many gang kids who have been forced into boot camp have flourished under guidance and discipline. The destruction of the nuclear family, as called for by Saul Alinsky, was the biggest hit our society took. The rest comes as a result. No government program helps...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

RCW, All my relocated cacti say, "BRRRRRRRRR!" :p Truth: You gotta be careful in the high desert country in AZ. Cacti don't drop their stickers -EVER. If you are walking off-road in snow drifts you gotta be really careful to avoid a scrub of cacti growing against a rock or other outcropping...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Alex, Yes! I am actually thinking of that idea. When we get rains out here in the summer, we can get an inch of rain in 15 minutes. Winter rains, like that we had this weekend spread the inch over two days. It would be nice to catch some of this. I have a 2500 gallon tank like that on my well...

    coffee on my screen

I have a friend who is a clinical psychologist in NYC. We talk kid issues as she spends a lot of time in counseling sessions with parents who want to be their kids best friends rather than parents. Her response is, 'Grow the hell up. Quit trying to out-stupid your kid. You are the parent: Act...

    Hello, and thanks!

Sounds very good to me. The guy I bought my 2012 L3800 tractor from purchased it with a rototiller, box scraper and a rake and the FEL. He had just shy of $28k in it back in 2012 when he hauled it home. They aren't getting any cheaper despite Japan's deflationary economy.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

More movin-rakin-smoothin-diggin-haulin... Couple more good days and we should be done... until the rebuild starts. One more cactus island to go... Used the HF slings to pull that giant succulent out of the ground after we dug on it for a half hour... Made it in one piece.
