How much play? Have you raised it off the ground to check it out? Those brackets holding that steering cylinder can come loose and cause lots of play. Check those and make sure they're not bent also, especially if they were loose.
I can't really answer your question but I did look into this when I purchased mine. Your homeowners.. I believe will not cover it off of your property. Plus I think they cover a lot more than your homeowners can unless you pay for the extra. I opted for the Kubota Ins.
I'm still getting use to my 2680, it's very touchy dropping it. I just have to be extra careful with it when it's loaded heavily. As said though.. lower rpm's help!
I switched to turf on my B7510 from the R4's, no regret at all. Done a lot of yard work with it and no problems in snow. I used it for mowing also so that was the main reason for the switch.

This is exactly what I was talking about, you can feel it more than anything. I'm not sure what causes it so quickly on a new tractor.. other than maybe the powder coating chipping away giving it more tolerance. It may be normal for these tractors but when it's tight, then one day it starts...
