    New purchase, concerns with dealers...

I have an L3301 that is 7 years old. I bought it used 4 years ago. I do all the routine maintenance on the tractor, and it has not needed any service (yet) from a dealer. The tractor had 275 hours on it when I bought it, and now has over 600 hours. I buy my parts and maintenance items from...

    To float or not.

I had the right length hydraulic top link until I got a “Pat’s Quick Hitch”. Then I was about 3” short. So I made an “extender”. Jack

    Top hydraulic link hoses length

It really depends on where your quick couplers are in relation to your cylinder fittings. I don’t think there is a one size fits all answer. I used scraps of garden hose to mock up mine before buying the hoses. Jack

    To float or not.

I have float on both valves. I find it to be a benefit (providing that your cylinders do not have check valves), especially with my box blade and scraper blade. Jack

    Hydraulic Top Link for L3560

Hi, I have an L3301, and got my hydraulic top link from Agri-Supply. I wanted a top link capable of “float”. Accordingly, my valve allows for float, and my cylinder does not have a check valve. You can also get a top link hydraulic cylinder with a check valve. The best...

Question about state Summit Hydraulics valves when box is opened.

I recently got a Summit valve via Amazon. Bag was open; everything covered with fluid. But valve worked fine and did not appear to have ever been used. That said, not a Summit fan. Jack

Merchants demanding cash only for payment.

The reality is that the business makes less money on a credit card transaction. I have noticed that my Kubota dealer and some of the lawn equipment dealers are charging a fee for credit card transactions now. I carry cash so that I can avoid these fees. I have not experienced a business that...

    New Guy

Welcome Sparky! I used to live in East Fort Myers, but now live in Western North Carolina. I had a 3000 series Ford with front end loader for years; but Irma had her way with her when I lived in FL. Now I have an L3301 Kubota. I bought my Kubota used several years ago, and have been pretty...

    Chipper for 3901

I have a Woodmaxx WM-8H chipper powered with my L3301. Mine came with an hour meter, but the hour meter is nowhere near accurate. There are things I like about the chipper, and things thatbI do not like so much. It is made in China. I knew this when I bought it, but today I would probably be...

    Tire chain question.

I live in the mountains in western North Carolina. I don’t use a blower because my driveway and community roads are gravel. I use a blade on the 3 pt with a 2x8 board bolted on and extending 2’ past the blade. This keeps me from having to get too close to the edge (ditches or steep banks)...

    Box Blade

Box blade size is somewhat dependent on your terrain as well as your tractor width. If you have steep areas to maintain, you need to consider the traction factor on a slope. Jack

    Is this a water well?

I live in Western NC now. All of the wells casings are 6” PVC. When I lived in FL, all the casings were 4” PVC. The difference is in water levels. Much higher water table in southern FL. 4” wells are common there. Also common to have city water, and a well for irrigation. Jack

    Hydraulic Top Link

I have the referenced cylinder from Agri-Supply on my L3301. I chose not to add a check valve, because I use float in several applications. When I installed Pat’s quick hitch system, I had to cobble together an extension for the attachment point at the tractor. I would not be without a...

Operating with Brakes Applied - How durable are they?

My neighbor has a BX. He had a very bad habit of always running at full throttle from the time he started it to the time he shut it down. He also had a very bad habit of leaving the brakes on. Understandable since we are in the mountains. A bad combination because when he stated out at full...
