1st torque wrench! Deciding on bolt torque?

Well, post this one under the category of all's well that ends almost well. My dealer rushed back my tractor today, for which I was and am very grateful. Of course while it was still on their trailer I checked to see if the missing stud was there. It was. BUT the nut on it was not even hand...

1st torque wrench! Deciding on bolt torque?

Thanks, George. I am hearing you and others on letting the wheel bolts alone. My dealer said the loader owner's manual is accurate and there is: a.) a missing rearward stud and b.) the stud that appears to be below the fuel filter is too far forward. It might be nice if the manual used the...

    Heavy Hitch Weight Cart?

I love my Heavy Hitch dual offset rack. Very compact and unobtrusive compared to the 5' box blade I was using for loader counterweight. (My tractor shed is a narrow one-car garage.) The almost 250 pounds I usually have on the inner rack has been perfect for the constant mulch moving I've been...

1st torque wrench! Deciding on bolt torque?

I guess my followup question is whether I should ask my dealer to torque all my wheel bolts while he's got if for the loader fix? On the one hand, I now don't trust anyone after what I've experienced. Now I have a torque wrench and have used it—once! On the other, they are trying to make a bad...

1st torque wrench! Deciding on bolt torque?

Another option is Harbor Freight's new Icon line of tools, their premium brand. I got the recommendation from a YouTube channel I was surfing for "how to use a torque wrench," and the tool guy said the Icon is rugged and very accurate. I got the 1/2" drive torque wrench for $125.

1st torque wrench! Deciding on bolt torque?

Not sure if you asked this of me. But I assume dry specs are given in the Kubota and loader manuals.

1st torque wrench! Deciding on bolt torque?

I got my torque wrench and checked wheel and loader bolts, discovering that there's a missing bolt on the right side of my loader frame. My dealer said the forward stud, which in the photo looks just below the fuel filter, is also out of place and should be further aft. This is the third setup...

1st torque wrench! Deciding on bolt torque?

This embarrasses me, but I'm fixin' to buy my first torque wrench. And this isn't my first tractor!? I guess owning a torque wrench and torquing bolts to spec seemed so far beyond me at first . . . and then it was something I didn't do. I have two questions: 1. Since there will be error...

    Losing/damaging 0-rings when changing fuel filter? [B2601]

Great idea. Here are the parts according to Messicks the other day: Small ring: 6A320-59950 Large ring: 6A320-59940

    Losing/damaging 0-rings when changing fuel filter? [B2601]

Thanks, Steve. I guess I'll go try it . . . Nah, can't decide! Maybe order them and let that part of the service wait . . . Richard

    Losing/damaging 0-rings when changing fuel filter? [B2601]

George, my filter needs o-rings but does not come with them! You have to order them separately, and I couldn't find them on Messick's site. The helpful parts person there gave me the numbers and like an idiot I didn't go ahead and order them.

    Losing/damaging 0-rings when changing fuel filter? [B2601]

Getting ready for my first fuel filter change for my B2601, I watched a video of someone's 50-Hour B2601 Service. The large and small o-ring washers that help seal the filter in the bowl came free with the old element. The person had to use a knife to fish out the small one from the top of the...

    B2601/B Series oil weight?

An update for the record. May help someone else. My owner's manual seems very restrictive on oil, stating, "Proper SAE Engine Oil according to the ambient temperatures as shown above." Those temps “shown above,” from 14 degrees F to above 77 degrees F, call for SAE 30, 10w-30, or 15w-40. Below...

    new LA435 loader stopped working

Right—it took a village. The image was the capper. I did have it reversed in my mind so I looked on the wrong side at first!

    new LA435 loader stopped working

I got that lift arm adjusted no problem. I am not very mechanical but adjusting the lift was super easy. And the system does not go into relief with it raising an inch less. Actually I killed two birds with one stone. When the ROPS is down, the top link was hitting it before at max lift. The top...

    new LA435 loader stopped working

That's a great suggestion! I will try that first. I do have a big heavy box blade on the back. I even bit it into a short steep little hill-dropoff twice yesterday with the rippers down. Maybe that did it? But how do you adjust the upper limit? With the top link or what?

    new LA435 loader stopped working

Man, I am not sure! Quick coupler, I think I paid for. The lever that disconnects everything? But to be honest, I haven't had it off. But I'll try what you suggest. Thanks!

    new LA435 loader stopped working

This is weird. I have a new B2601 with less than 60 hours on it. Today the loader won't lift the bucket but to hood level. It will dump and curl but on raising and lowering is in slow motion, if that. I checked the fluid and it was down 1/2 quart, so it wasn't that. I have a third function...
