Pretty sure the KX41-3S has fixed tracts. And the KX41-3V has variable width tracks. I will check the manual I have later and if this is not the case will edit this post.

I think with hills one might think differently. I know I do, especially with wet, slippery snow. But agree on the flat, you are probably right on.

Did you remove the injector pump to have it looked at? I remember reading that cracking the fuel lines to the injectors, at the pump end, can cause issues. Perhaps due to o-ring damage or something like that? Also not sure how removing and replacing the pump can affect timing if you do not do...

It sounds like you have a loose connection or broken wire that is making contact when you vibrate things by stomping on the brake pedal. Such a connection could have cause the engine to cut out like it was running out of fuel, if the fuel cut off solenoid works like on my BX, where it cuts off...

No, what I was trying to say is that I cannot find well made INEXPENSIVE spacers for the B2910, similar to what people are using on BXs. I realize there are spacers available at MUCH higher prices.

Remember that renting eats up cash pretty quick, and you have to do EVERYTHING you want to accomplish right NOW or pay even more. Over 18 years I got a huge amount of use out of my tractor's backhoe. At my convenience. No worry about money going down the drain if I was not working fast enough...
