    tire chain storage

I store all of my smaller tractor tire chains in empty 5 gal lube buckets. Sometimes one side per bucket, sometimes both. Both fronts in another bucket or simply on shelf. Used 2-link ladders on my B3350 with wheel spacers but never any tensioners, bungees, etc. After proper fitment and...

6 foot Rear Finish Mower for B2650?

Suitability of RFM will depend upon weight of mower, what you plan to cut, how quickly you hope to move while cutting, terrain (hills), tractor ballast, etc. There have been multiple threads herein about folks running out of power when using a 6' RFM with a 2650 and similar tractors. RFM vis a...

Does regen have to be terrible?

Agreed. Can be with hydraulic reverser transmissions as used in your tractor and many others of similar size. Less easily feathered than is a dry clutch, especially at high RPM.

    Snow chains…do I need them?

Bingo. I would not try to stud turf tires.

Does regen have to be terrible?

Not a chance, but a high/low powershift is available with the 6X2 transmission.

Does regen have to be terrible?

Gear type transmissions are more efficient, which is why HSTs are not used in high HP tractors. Don't know where one can buy a 100 HP+ HST tractor these days.

Does regen have to be terrible?

Indeed. DPFs/regens are an annoyance at minimum and a potential catastrophe.

Does regen have to be terrible?

It does, but it's not a hydrostat. I regularly needed to operate my 6X2 M9960 at low RPM when doing precision/detail work.

Does regen have to be terrible?

    What could possibly go wrong?

Does regen have to be terrible?

No, but there are times when you do not want to run the engine at high RPM. Worse, regens seem to have a habit of starting when one is finished with work and backing into the barn.

    Snow chains…do I need them?

I've purchased multiple sets of two-link ladder chains similar to the ones on your tractor from tirechains.com for various tractors and found all to be well made and reasonably priced. Two-link ladder chains ride and grip much better than the less expensive four-link ladder chains and are...

Believe that's why he said, "start at." Lots of inexpensive tire chains available in small sizes.

    Snow chains…do I need them?

Turf tires perform better than R4s or R1s in snow and probably better than R14s but I have no experience with R14s. Tractors are not designed for snow.

    Snow chains…do I need them?

Serious snow removal with a tractor (FWA or otherwise), aside from using a snow blower, will require tire chains, especially in wet snow, ice and/or steep slopes. Neither FWA nor ballast help much at all on ice and little in wet snow.
