RPM's, HP and Torque, Oh MY!!!

Keep in mind that a 6' cutter is 20% larger than a 5' cutter. I would consider this something more than "slightly larger." SDT

M5640 with an 8 foot cutter?

It depends upon what you plan to cut, how fast you expect to cut it and how often you expect to cut it, but I would not even consider it. I use a Woods BB720X HD 6' cutter with my 53 PTO HP L6060 and it's often all it wants, even on level ground. I use a Woods BB840X HD 7' cutter on my 90 PTO...

RPM's, HP and Torque, Oh MY!!!

I didn't understand your reasoning in the 5th paragraph but, there is no performance "disadvantage" to a gear type transmission vis a vis a HST. Indeed, the HST suffers the performance disadvantage. HST transmissions provide infinitely variable speed but do so at a cost. HST transmissions are...

Shell Rotella T6, two gallons, AutoZone...

Just came from my local Auto Zone. They have no such deal. That said, Orschlein (SP?) has 5 gallon pails of Mobil Delvac 15W40 diesel spec for $24.95 after $35.00 rebate. Surprisingly, you can get up to 5 or 6 (can't remember) $35.00 rebates. I only bought one as I already have more oil and...

    B2650 for 3 acres?

I researched both 60" and 72" MMMs when I bought my B3350 but bought neither at this time. May do so in the future. I much prefer the design of the 72" mower to the 60" but it does cost more, requires more power, and is more likely to scalp. I'll continue to mow my lawn with my B1750 HSDT...

    B2650 for 3 acres?

Most likely. Both 60" and 72" MMMs are offered for the 2650. Chose according to the ground to be mowed, e.g., obstacles, terrain, etc. If your ground is not flat, the 72" mower will be more likely to scalp. SDT

    A tractor to NOT buy....

Some engines are "OK" with some amount of properly administered ether. Some engines are not OK with just about any amount of ether improperly administered. Broken ring lands, rings, etc., are the common causes of ether addiction. A much better procedure is a gasoline soaked rag carefully...

    Brush Hog Rookie Question

The tail wheel is a caster wheel. It sounds like you have backed into something bending the tail wheel spindle. Inspect the tail wheel spindle and fork for evidence of damage. If there is insufficient caster, the tail wheel will do exactly as you describe. SDT

R4 or Turf for snow?...and damage to Hydro using single brake?

Turf tires are better than R-4s (or R-1s) in snow. Turfs with chains are best. Nothing wrong with using turning brakes with a HST. SDT

Sorry. Can't use a cab tractor for most of the work that I do with my L6060. SDT

    L6060 Mid PTO

Nothing, other than decide to not buy the used (but unused) snow blower that my dealer has on consignment. That said, I probably would not have bought it anyway but for other reasons. SDT

2 bottom plow vs. tractor size

No. Pulling a 2X14 moldboard plow will require close to 30 PTO HP and over 20 drawbar HP in good ground and much more of both in many grounds. The tractor will also need to be properly set up for plowing, e.g., AG tires, ballast, etc. Not sure what you plan to do but a rototiller may well be a...

    L6060 Mid PTO

Thank you. Note: Again not certain but it may be that the necessary internal gear is standard on cab models but not ROPS models. If so, a split may be necessary on ROPS models but not cab models. SDT
