First Tractor Advice: B2601 or B2650

I just sold my 31 year old L2250 gear Tractor. Want a new hydro unit. The L series no longer has MMM pto so the 2 Bs are what I'm comparing. Uneven terrain, one hellacious hill and lots of trees is what I have to deal with. I also have a 30 year old B8200 hst that still does the job but I would...

    Buying a tractor?

I rented a BX25D from Home Depot and tried it for a day on my 16 acres. Will be replacing my 31 year old L2250 and the 25D is not enough machine for my needs. Can't get an L with a MMM now so settled on 2601 or 2650. Wife and son prefer 2601, myself the 2650. Will decide in a week or so, glad I...

    Rear ballast

I had a L2250/FEL for 31 years in the Chicago area. It came with filled rear tires, Calcium chloride solution. Sold it last fall, rear wheel starting to rust out. They use "beet juice"or any one of severel non freezing fluids now. My next tractor will use a ballast box filled with concrete or...

    B2601 loader crooked

Old thread, but like many, with no final resolution. I'm in the process of purchasing a new Kubota to replace a 31 year old L2250. Has this problem been resolved? Was it actually a wide spread problem or a random occurrence? I purchased 2 Kubotas in 1985 and have spent about a grand on repairs...

    Got my B2601 today

What sold you on the 2601, I'm deciding between it and a 2650. Price is within about 6%. Mostly mowing and will be getting a BH. Seems the 2601 would be a bit more agile around trees, the 2650 same Hp but a bit stronger hydraulics.

    B2650 mid mount mower deck.

I understand the 2650 uses a ground contact deck instead of the suspended one on the 2601 and all the others down the line.Ive used two ground contact Kubotas for 30 years. Why have they moved away from that on all except the 2650. Have any of you used a suspended deck on a less than fare way...

    Mowing with b2601

I am in the process of purchasing a B2601 package with 60 in mmm. My concern has been the fixed/suspended deck design, I'm replacing a L2250 with ground contact deck I've had for 31 years. Most Kubotas are suspended decks now, B2650 is still ground contact, no mmm pto on L series now. I'm told...

    B2601 Replacing L2250

Ive settled on a B2601 to replace my 1985 L2250 which I've had since new. 60 in mmm, 60 in QT front loader and 70 series BH. Several questions to start. No experience with suspended deck, been using contact decks for 42 years. Any issues on rugged terrain. My place is not a smooth football...

    6o in mower decks

Re: 6o in mower deck My turf is not a football field. It's uneven, rolling and hilly in areas. 1/4 mile long driveway with culverts along it that have steep angles with many trees. I have used floating/ground contact decks for 45 years with great results and have no experience with suspended...

    6o in mower decks

(I prefer suspended if the ground allows). Soooooo, are you saying the contact deck is better for rough/uneven ground and suspended decks are better on golf course type lawns?

    6o in mower decks

I have 3 acres with lots trees and it's beautiful but no golf course. I have mowed it since 1985 with a, at first, L2250 gear unit followed soon be a B8200 HST. Both contact decks, both deck replaced once in the 30+ years owned. The decks take a pounding, so I want that which will take abuse the...

    6o in mower decks

What's the advantage of a suspended deck over contact ones. The difference between the hook up on a B2601 and B2650?

    These dang TALL rops!

In 1985 I bought a l2250 and a b8200. Took them both off after wife launched one when it caught on a tree limb. Sold the l2250 last week with a ROPS back on. Landscaper going to remove it first thing when back at his shop. Gotta have them when new, fed law, or sold used if you want to protect...

    BX25D - Chains

31 years ago I bought my L2250 with a 60 inch rear mount blower. Used the chains first years and ditched them after. Too much damage to the asphalt part of the drive and just a pain on and off. My drive is 1100+ feet long, no problem with Turff tires and 4 wheel drive.

    BioDiesel ?

I've been running bio in my 2 1985 Kubotas for a while because that's all I can find in my neighborhood. Selling my L2250 now and I'm looking at the B2650. The tech at my dealer recommended that I run straight straight diesel to avoid running/ warranty issues. Only one marathon station 45 mins...

    New Tractors and Biodiesel

Back in 1985 I was looking for a new utility tractor. A air cooled gas unit was lasting 4-5 years before engine needed work. Decided to go diesel next time around, 30+ Years later they are still both running strong. Are Kubotas still the best on the market as I had found back then. Can one...

    New Tractors and Biodiesel

My dealers tech didn't say don't use it. He said he's fixing quite a few rigs using the bio. Suggested staying away from it if possible. He told me of one Mobil dealer in town that carries straight diesel. I bought 12 gals and filled up my two 1985 rigs. It's a 45 mi drive each way. May get me...
