    Early 80s L275DT Cold Start

Great, thanks. Another question. I made a separate topic but figure I will mention it here, too. When I first went to use the rear hydraulic lift, it lifted the implement no problem. When I pushed it down, it went down very fast and would not lift again. I have since verified that the lift...

    Rear lift not working

I removed the attachment and tested the lift. Lo and behold, it actually does work. The issue is power....it can barely lift 50 pounds.

    Rear lift not working

OK, I don't think my tractor has a draft control. I noticed that when I manipulate the position control lever, the other side of the assembly does not move (I drew a blue arrow pointing to the area that I would expect to move, but does not, when the lever is moved.) Is access to the spool and...

    Rear lift not working

Yes, both of those problems seem possible. The tractor has almost never lived undercover in its entire lifetime, and it's only been used for a few hours over the past decade. How might I check these seals? I attached a snip of the workshop manual's section on troubleshooting a nonfunctional...

    Rear lift not working

This morning I attached a york rake to my L275DT. Once connected, I pulled the lever to lift the attachment to the top of the stroke, which worked fine. When I pushed the lever to drop it back down, it seemed like something "gave out" and the attachment went down very quickly. I was not able to...

I changed the oil last night. You're right, it really couldn't be easier. I did forget to change the oil filter before filling the engine again, but it looks high enough that I can still change it even when the oil is full, is that the case? Do you guys have thoughts on marvel mystery oil...

    Early 80s L275DT Cold Start

Got the hood removed last night. I'm not sure it will be going back on unless I can rig up a different way to mount it. The battery mount is completely rusted out and both of the bolts that attach it to the front axle bracket are basically welded in place (the left one is tight and won't loosen...

Yup, that would have been a disaster. Really got lucky with that one!

    Early 80s L275DT Cold Start

Thanks all. We're back in business. I drained the tank into a can with a rag to catch debris. It stopped up a few times but the compressed air worked great to clear it up. All in all I collected about 1/8 cup of sludge. It was not magnetic and appeared to just be mud or slimy detritus. I poured...

Great. I'm awaiting a quote on the front tire replacements. Sounds like an expensive proposition, I might just wait until they're totally unusable. I've got an aftermarket replacement cap in my cart, hoping that the tank's male threads are OK. Would the lack of a tight-fitting cap affect fuel...

    Early 80s L275DT Cold Start

I cleared up the blockage with some compressed air but it still seems to be blocking up repeatedly. I haven't been able to get it started. The flow into the injectors is pretty weak. Russell I think I'm headed toward your route with the gas tank restoration. But first maybe I should siphon the...

    Early 80s L275DT Cold Start

Thank you! I wound up draining all the fuel and cleaning out the fuel filter and bowl with kerosene, then refilling with diesel (treated with 911 for good measure). Then I cracked the bleeder valve and all the injectors and started cranking. First some fuel came out of the bleeder so I closed...

I got it! Just had to bleed the injectors. It was a cinch! This is the greatest feeling and it's all thanks to you guys! From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

    Early 80s L275DT Cold Start

OK. This is possibly my last try (not by choice...if I was a bachelor I'd pitch a tent next to the thing and call in sick until it was running.) I'm going to head over, drain all the fuel, clean the filter, add fresh fuel, see if I can crack the injectors, crank the engine, and see if fuel...

    Early 80s L275DT Cold Start

Before starting this project, I saw that the tank had a little diesel in it, so I added a fresh gallon or two. I still have 3-4 gallons available nearby. Yesterday during my fuel line check I saw diesel dribbling from the hose where it connects to the engine from the fuel filter. I drained...

    Early 80s L275DT Cold Start

Still no dice. I replaced the two glow plugs that I could and jumped them to the battery. Sparks on connection and the bus was warm to the touch after. I did check the fuel line this visit to ensure it was getting fuel. If you have any other ideas let me know but unfortunately at this point I...

Yes, it seems pretty likely that they're all dead to me anyway. So I will install the two new plugs, connect the two buses to join all three together, and proceed. I will just get a length of 10ga wire today to jump them, in case my homemade wire was the weak link.

OK the meter is definitely good, I have the leads in the right spot and it goes straight to 0 (even further right, actually) when I touch the leads together. The needle was going somewhere in the middle of the range (50Ohms) when I tested the plugs, but I don't doubt there was some level of user...
