The camera came from Amazon https://www.amazon.ca/Magnetic-Sola..._bap_m_grid_dv_rp_hxwhrp_sspa_mw_bia_0_4_cp_i

There is also a mounting bracket to put on the forks for the camera. I'll work on that tomorrow. @Gaspasser
I'm liking the looks of that! Well done sir!

I did a 5 acre 3-hour mowing job yesterday afternoon, and then dropped the tractor, cutter and trailer off at my friend's place on the river about 3 miles away from where I was working. I plan on cutting his 12 acres this afternoon so no point in hauling all of the equipment home last night.

The "new" F-450 and 30ft Kaufman trailer are a game changer for me. I can't stress enough how much better of a towing experience it is compared to the modified 22ft PJ I used last year with the '02 F-250. It's a cliche to say this, but the F-450 is such an amazing truck, and 20,000 lb of stuff behind it almost goes unnoticed.

I sold the PJ deckover tilt trailer last week and will not miss it one bit.

Nice scenery @McMXi How long are you at bumper to bumper? I'm gonna guess 52-55'.

I jumped the L5460 and couple days ago for the first time with the F350 SRW and my 20' tilt deck. I didn't even feel it back there. The downside is I bought that trailer for the LX this spring. Went from a 16' landscape trailer to the tiltdeck. Wish i went with a 24' trailer now.

Took a spin out to the new wharf. Every piece of stone made about a 90 mile truck ride to fill this in.

The truck is 22.2 ft long according to Ford, and the trailer is 30 ft (25 ft wood and 5 ft ramps) but actually measures about 6" longer than that. The unknown is the distance between the tailgate and front of the trailer but I'm going to say at least 4 ft, so 56 ft would be close to actual.

I understand your situation with trailer length. The M6060 and RC3712 are by far the most challenging load that I need to move around, and that's why I ended up with the F-450 and 30ft gooseneck. One thing I noticed right away is that the folding cutter, tractor and trailer need to be lined up really well prior to backing on. It's not cool trying to adjust the position of the cutter on the deck with the tractor wheels on the ramps!

I have two options re position and I think that having the tractor over the axles is the way to go. The cutter is around 4,000 lb but the tractor is closer to 10,000 lb so that distribution makes the most sense in terms of tongue weight.

Overall though, I have zero regrets with this set up and probably couldn't find a significantly better truck and trailer combination. If there is a downside it's that my '02 F-250 won't be able to pull or move the Kaufman since I have the DECKED drawer system in the bed. This would only be significant if I had to haul something during the winter. The F-450 is never going to see road salt.

I'm limited to bumper pull because of the work cap. I've been looking for a 450/500 dump truck but the used market is ridiculous for pricing.

When I picked up my 2022 it was on a salted road 30 seconds after leaving the dealership. Can't avoid it here.
I don't even know what road salt looks like LOL.

No, I did live in Colorado for about 3 years.

Y'all northerners would get an absolute kick at what happens to us down here the rarity we do get that funny looking white stuff.

Feb '21... Couldn't get a single vehicle out of the yard to go to work, tried for like 10 minutes, gave up LOL

Few days after that, driveway iced over, still couldn't leave LOL

Moved a bunch of dirt and gravel to start filling in behind the retaining wall. Daughter and her husband were here to help, I would not get that much done in one day. Need to order more blocks, this project is on hold until more blocks are delivered.

Too much decking, not enough tractoring.

Got all the pieces I have cut screwed down and both corners next to the house closed in. Tomorrow is rails and the outside corners and probably a permanent board to replace the brown one stuck between the flashing next to the house.

IMG_4071.jpeg

The miter saw is now up on the deck level. If I made one trip, I made at least 100 trips up and down the flight of 14 steps. Definitely got my cardio in today. I’ll still have to do a few trips for lumber (and all the stuff I forget) but when a board needs trimming 3 times, that’s 3 trips. I tend to cut long a trim excess when cutting this many mitered pieces.

Started installing the Nilights but I have run into a little bit of an issue. I want to install the switch on the dash but I can’t find how to gain access to the inside of the dash. I tried several searches on the site here but no success. If anyone knows how I get access please share it with me.

Thanks for the flowers. I’m probably about 40% done. I have to repeat the picture just to the right and replace the stairs too. I’m putting butyl tape between every wood joint that can possibly hold water this time. I really don’t think Ill be able to do it again in 7 years. I’m pretty impressed that my back hasn’t shut me down.
The missus came up with the wonderful idea of expanding it by 4 feet. I had already done the research years ago when I built it, and found that the maximum overhang for a deck with 2x8 joists without braces was 2 feet. But doubling the joists on 4 foot centers and adding gussets would let me extend another 4 feet, which adds another 64 sqft to the floor. I also moved the posts and rails to the outside of the rim joists which bumped the total expansion about 73 sqft, ending up with about 270 sqft of deck. It’s big and it’s heavy, but I put 6x6 posts and 2x12 beams under it the first time for a reason. Thankfully, all of that is still in excellent condition. The floor and joists, not so much. I’m going to mirror the herringbone design on the center backbone, ending up with a double herringbone floor. It’s PITA to cut and match all the ’bones’ but being an engineer and good with triangles makes it a lot easier. I tell everyone that “Triangles are your friend “.

We all say that with a new truck.

Give it a couple years. Lol
I have the '02 F-250 for winter use or my Jeep TJ so I'm fairly sure that I'll manage to keep the F-450 out of the salt. (y)

I cut my friend's 12 acres or so this afternoon. He had another friend get some hay off the field this year, two cuts I think, but he wanted it topped in preparation for winter. Quite a bit of alfalfa in the field so the deer won't be too happy about my work, but I enjoyed it.

I need to remember that the folding cutter doesn't like 540E. The tractor and cutter run great in standard 540 mode.

I measured the truck and trailer from the front bumper to end of trailer and it's 57 feet and 2 inches.
